Mark Cuban wants attention. He said so himself in the DLLS Mavs podcast. He talked about Cooper Flagg, the story on Kawhii Leonard getting fraud money, his life as a minority owner, etc. Then he claimed again (with no proof) that the referees in the 2006 Finals favored the Heat, almost fixing the series for them to win.
Mark Cuban is not “The Man” in Dallas
Mark Cuban sold his majority ownership in the Dallas Mavericks in 2023 to Miriam Adelson. He retained full control of basketball ownership but wasn’t allowed to be in on the Luca Doncic trade. Because of this, now he needs to be heard. He does this by throwing temper tantrums and saying crazy stuff. The more people listen to him, the more he will feel he is effecting the trajectory of the franchise.
2006 Finals claim
Cuban claims (with no proof) that referees Bennett Salvatore and Jack Nies deliberately conspired to favor the Heat in the 2006 Finals. Dwayne Wade answered Cuban on his own podcast. He told Cuban to stop saying st**id sh**.
“…You’re not about to tarnish the work that I put in as a young guy, to do something that not a lot of young guys have done in this game. To say it was rigged, Mark stop that. Y’all got us, we got y’all.”
He (Wade) brought up that Dirk Nowitzki had an enormous amount of free throws in one of the games during the 2011 finals but none of that equaled a conspiracy. Cuban said in 2024 in Episode 207 of the “All the Smoke” podcast that he didn’t know if the entire series was fixed but “all the 50/50 calls” went in favor of the Miami Heat.
Dallas – Miami rivalry

Dwayne Wade was right. Dallas beat Miami in the 2011 Finals, so the two teams are even. Mark Cuban is begging for attention and is trying to get on people’s minds again. He is trying to “gin up” fan support for the Mavericks after the disastrous Luka Doncic trade. Cuban doesn’t realize that Dallas is “1 up” on Miami beating them out for the first pick in the NBA Draft (my claim with no proof.)
The best thing for any basketball fan to do is to not listen to Mark Cuban. He obviously made a mistake in selling his shares to the Adelson family. He also claimed the Adelson’s removed him as Head of Basketball Operations for the team. He made a mistake and he is paying for that mistake.
