Europe’s top leagues were back in action alongside England and there were goals galore across the continent on Saturday.
Read on to see the best of the action that includes Bayern Munich, Juventus and Napoli.
Bayern Munich 5-0 Hamburger
Bayern Munich stormed back to the top of the Bundesliga with a commanding 5-0 win over Hamburg.
Serge Gnabry opened the scoring after just three minutes with a sharp finish from a tight angle, setting the tone for a dominant display.
Aleksandar Pavlovic doubled the lead six minutes later following a clever one-two with Harry Kane, before the England striker got in on the act himself from the penalty spot midway through the half after a VAR review penalised Soumahoro for handball.
Luis Diaz quickly made it 4-0, his deflected strike wrong-footing the Hamburg goalkeeper in the 29th minute. Bayern eased off after the break but still found a fifth when Kane capped off a sweeping counter-attack with his second of the game on 62 minutes.
The hosts registered 22 shots and 70% possession in a relentless performance. Hamburg, meanwhile, managed just two efforts on target and remain winless this season.
Juventus 4-3 Inter Milan
Juventus edged Inter 4-3 in another Derby d’Italia thriller, following on from last year’s eight-goal spectacle.
Lloyd Kelly opened the scoring with a precise first-time finish, only for Hakan Calhanoglu to hit back from the edge of the box.
Kenan Yildiz then restored Juve’s lead with a stunning strike before Calhanoglu equalised again, this time with a sharp volley after a chaotic spell in the area.
Inter turned the tide in the second half, Marcus Thuram powering home a header from Federico Dimarco’s corner to make it 3-2.
But Juve weren’t done. Khephren Thuram levelled with a thunderous header from Yildiz’s free-kick before substitute Vasilije Adzic became the unlikely hero, firing past Yann Sommer in stoppage time to seal victory.
Fiorentina 1-3 Napoli
Napoli cruised to a 3-1 win over Fiorentina at the Franchi, tightening their grip on the top of Serie A.
Kevin De Bruyne opened the scoring from the penalty spot after a VAR check confirmed Anguissa had been fouled, beating David De Gea with ease. On his debut, Rasmus Hojlund doubled the lead soon after, racing onto Leonardo Spinazzola’s outside-of-the-boot pass before finishing emphatically into the bottom corner.
The champions then struck again early in the second half, Sam Beukema netting from close range on his first Napoli start after Anguissa recycled the ball from a corner. Fiorentina finally found a response through captain Luca Ranieri, who fired home after a set-piece scramble, but it proved only a consolation.
Napoli controlled the tempo throughout, posting an xG of 2.0 compared to Fiorentina’s 0.9. With Hojlund immediately impressing and De Bruyne pulling the strings, the Scudetto holders look ominously strong.
