Renee Xiong
Zhong Lun Law Firm’s Hong Kong office has continued its recent capital markets expansion, with former Sidley Austin partner Renee Xiong joining the firm as an international partner this month. Her arrival follows partner Wu Hao’s addition in September.
Xiong has 20 years of legal experience and spent 16 years with Sidley Austin. Earlier in her career, she worked at King & Spalding and Skadden as an associate.
She specialises in debt capital markets and debt restructuring, and has been advising clients on traditional loans, liability management and distressed debt restructuring.
Previously, she led the Sidley Austin team involved in major offshore debt restructuring deals by Chinese companies, including Shimao Group’s USD11.5 billion offshore debt restructuring plan, which was completed this year, and China Fortune Land Development’s USD4.96 billion debt restructuring plan, approved by the English court in 2023.
Xiong has received wide recognition from the industry. For five years since 2020, she has consecutively won China Business Law Journal’s annual A-List of “top 100 lawyers” and “Growth Drivers” awards.
