Wolves Sack Pereira Following 10-Game Drought

Wolverhampton Wanderers has relieved manager Vítor Pereira of his duties with immediate effect following a disastrous start to the 2025-26 Premier League season. The Portuguese coach leaves the club after the team managed just two points from their opening ten matches, including eight defeats, leaving Wolves firmly anchored at the bottom of the table.

The final straw came after a 3-0 defeat away to Fulham F.C., which extended Wolves’ winless league run and increased the gap to safety to eight points. The club had entered the campaign with hope after Pereira secured top-flight survival in the previous season, but the current slide proved fatal.

Pereira had signed a new three-year contract just weeks earlier in September 2025, despite the team’s poor form, underscoring the sudden shift in direction at the club. Reports indicate that a clause in his contract allowed Wolves to terminate the deal without the club being liable for the full payout.

Off the pitch, frustration had been brewing among the fan base. The coach was involved in a confrontational moment with supporters following a previous defeat to Burnley F.C., an exchange that appeared to accelerate the board’s decision.

Looking ahead, Wolves now face a critical juncture. The board must quickly identify a successor capable of arresting the slide and stabilising the club before the situation becomes irreversible. With difficult fixtures ahead, the incoming head coach will face an immediate and significant challenge.
