Wolves fans vent frustration after suffering a sixth defeat in eight as Sunderland continued their impressive start.
The 2-0 victory, a third home win this season, made it the Black Cats’ best home top flight league start since 1968.
Nordi Mukiele scoring the opener in the first half after a clever exchange with Trai Hume, then a late own goal by Ladislav Krejci sealed the win.
Despite an early disallowed goal by Wilson Isidor and a second-half push from Wolves, Sunderland’s solid defence held firm to see Sunderland move up to 7th place, while Wolves, still winless, remained at the bottom of the table.

Hugo Bueno said on the defeat at Sunderland:
“I think we didn’t really deserve this situation. We had a lot of chances, but in the end, if you didn’t score, this happens. So, we just have to work on this, because the chances are there, but at the end of the day, the one who scores is the one who wins the game.
“It doesn’t matter about the chances you create, you have to put the ball in the back of the net. We know this is our problem right now, we are struggling with it, we just have to look for solutions and get better, because next weekend we have a massive game in front of us. It’s not the time to put our heads down, even though it’s sad, it’s painful to be like this, but we have a massive game next week.”
On an improved second half:
“We just follow his [Vitor Pereira’s] instructions and the work we did in training. It worked really well, those combinations on both of the sides, more attacking and running in behind. It worked, but we didn’t score, so it’s a bit frustrating when you do all the work and then you don’t score. But it is what it is.”
On still having faith:
“We are really, really confident about it, even though I know it’s hard to maybe see it, but I truly believe in our squad, our team and our work, it’s just little details. I know I said this many times, but it’s how it is. So, just keep working and change those little things, because in the end everything is going to work out, we’re going to start scoring, winning more games, and everything will change quickly.”
On the supporter following:
“First thing, of course, I apologise, because no one wants to see their team in this situation. But we need their support, we are together in this and I’m going to say this really seriously, we need everyone next week with new energy. We just need good vibes, good energy and their support, and I 100 per cent believe we will get the win next week.”
Wolves boss Vitor Pereira, speaking to BBC Sport: “The first half was technically poor. When I look back at the first half, I don’t remember good moments. In the second half we corrected our moments and in my opinion we played 30 minutes of high quality football and created three or four chances to score.
“In the Premier League you cannot lose these moments. But in the end we concede. In the last 15 minutes with two strikers we stopped playing, we started playing the long ball and this is not our game.
“They scored their goals and we missed our chances. You have moments in football. The players want to the change things but we had two or three chances we couldn’t miss.
“But this is football and we keep working and we will prepare for the next game. We must win, score goals and not concede goals.”
Pereira, per Sky Sports:
“I look for my team and I see a team mentally connected with good spirit, with character, trying the best to change the situation.
“If you remember the last game, we had two chances to score the second goal against Brighton. We didn’t and after we conceded the goal.
“This is the moment that we need to change with a win. We must win the next game because it’s very important for us.
“Today, it was very important for us. We need to improve the way that we attack the box, the way we are crossing and when we assist well, we need to score.”
Sunderland boss Regis le Bris, speaking to BBC Sport: “It’s an important win. It was important to react after Manchester United defeat last time out. I was happy with the mind-set of the team. We started well and dominated possession. We generated momentum and chances. My only regret was we didn’t score the second goal until late.
“We’re still a young team but we showed a togetherness to keep a clean sheet.”
On goalscorer Nordi Mukiele: “He has really good energy. He is a good player with a specific profile. He always shows this energy to go forward. Sometimes we have to manage that energy.”
On Sunderland’s target this season: “For me it’s just a question of the next game. It’s a long journey and a tough journey. If we can win points early, it’s good for the confidence.”
Le Bris, per Sky Sports:
“Important win, tough win. I think we started well. I’m really pleased with the first half, it was like expected.
“We had our game plan, managed the press, created chances, generated strong momentum. We scored once, which was positive, but my regret is we didn’t score the second goal.
“It’s normal to expect after this first half a reaction from our opponent. They did well second half so it was totally different.
“But we defended together, showed this togetherness again, this ability to suffer together and kept this clean sheet, which is positive.”

@ST_1877:
The bottomline is;
Fosun has destroyed this famous club.
– Hardcore fans replaced by tourists
– Atmosphere non existent
– Dilapidated academy
– Squad with absolutely no quality
– No ambition
– Club has lost its identity
We are in serious trouble. #WWFC
@Gman2307: Another defeat and frankly look clueless when we get into the opposition’s half. Slow passive build up and don’t even started on what we’re doing for corners. VP’s last saloon next week against Burnley.
@AlexSumneRx: We actually deserve to go down. Years and years of neglect and no ambition, we’re a dreadful team
@Rich2086: Whens the next international break I miss it already.
@RK13_4: Get him gone tonight. He has no idea tactically and his subs are horrendous. Yes poor recruitment, yes players aren’t up to it but tactics are shocking rather go down showing a bit of fight and an idea
@MrRyanLeister: #wwfc I will never remain quiet when it comes to my football club, especially if I think it’s being mistreated like I do now. I often point the finger at Jeff (and rightfully so) but if @Fosun_Intl are happy to watch on then they equally complicit, if not more. Whilst Jeff has been using the name of Wolves to branch off and set up various new ventures, the football side of the business has been badly neglected & as a result we are where we are now. I’m grateful for a few fun years, but over the last few seasons it’s become clearer and clearer that you aren’t serious about our football club. When you keep gambling on something you don’t understand or overly care about, eventually your luck will run out. Feel free to embarrass yourselves, but not at our expense like you are now. So respectfully, change the chairman and your approach, or sell up and move on.
@ElHerder: Worst team in Premier League history…. and we are being told we had a good transfer window by the little rat who runs the gaff?! News flash – this team doesn’t survive in the championship let alone the Premier league. 😂😂
@jonnotommo: Worst owners in the League – Wolves @fosun_intl. Worst Chairman in the League – Wolves. Worst manager in the League – Wolves. Worst Sporting Director in the League – Wolves. This isn’t going to end well. #wwfc
@ST_1877: Seriously worried for the future of this club. The way it’s going we WILL double dip again. Next Summer will see huge numbers of players in and out. No stability and a crook at the helm. #WWFC
@joshdownes2001: Don’t worry lads only another 11 games until we can even start to look at improving the squad. I don’t even want to stay up if it’s just going to be this every season
@Wwfc2429961: This is 100% on FOSUN, year on year squad regression for 5 years. Im not in the least bit surprised. I only hope fosun will sell up when we go down. This must be the biggest reversal of ambition by owners in the history of British football. Changing the manager is pointless.
@Gazoftheshire: Sack him tonight – out his depth. Rubbish end of last season, rubbish preseason and rubbish this season, and you clowns give him a 3yr contract

A bad manager and an even worse coach. Tactics are pathetic, and he’s now actively making key players worse. He has to go tonight. Give Davis the Burnley game to light a fire under this shower of losers, and then go find a proper manager pic.twitter.com/XY7OVYHcVL

450-mile round trip for that. An absolute joke.
The product of pure negligence.
We all know where the blame lies…

Until this man goes, and possibly his employers, @Wolves aren’t going anywhere or doing anything other than getting relegated. Change the coach as much as you want, the shitshow starts at the top #wwfc pic.twitter.com/O2S3dONQjk
