What is Aaron Rodgers’ Injury Status After Exiting Steelers vs. Bengals?

Pittsburgh Steelers quarterback Aaron Rodgers suffered a hand injury in Sunday’s game against the Cincinnati Bengals.

NFL Network’s Tom Pelissero reported that Rodgers is questionable to return to the game. While Rodgers hasn’t officially been ruled out for the remainder of the contest, veteran backup Mason Rudolph has taken over under center in recent drives.

Rodgers has started all 10 games for the Steelers this season and has led the team to a 5-4 record entering Sunday’s game while throwing for 1,853 yards, 18 touchdowns and seven interceptions, proving that he can still be a reliable starter as his 42nd birthday in December approaches.

However, Rodgers showed his age when he had a slight scare in Pittsburgh’s Week 7 loss to the Cincinnati Bengals. After throwing a touchdown pass, he was tackled to the ground by Steelers left tackle Broderick Jones, and he angrily reacted to his teammate’s over-enthusiastic celebration. Rodgers was able to joke about the moment after he avoided any injury.

Rodgers’ cautious mindset is understandable, as he’s just two years removed from a torn Achilles that caused him to miss virtually the entire 2023 season when he was with the New York Jets.

If Rodgers is forced to miss extended time, Rudolph would take over as the starter for the Steelers. Pittsburgh is hoping to contend for a Super Bowl title, so it wouldn’t be a surprise if it takes a patient approach to Rodgers’ eventual return.
