W&H opens in Foshan to tap Greater Bay Area development | China

W&H Law Firm opens a Foshan office, marking its 56th branch worldwide, which aims to further integrate the firm into the development of the Greater Bay Area.

The Foshan office is led by founding partner Meng Lifeng, who has 27 years of experience in real estate and construction, corporate governance and criminal defence.

The new branch is being staffed with partners from other local firms. Han Liru, a senior partner at W&H and a member of the Foshan Standing Committee of the Chinese People’s Political Consultative Conference, led the launch team. She was previously a senior partner at ZhiHeng Law Firm.

Other partners joining the office include Zhu Qingcheng, formerly a senior partner at ZhiHeng; Hu Guoqiang, previously a partner at Free Way Law Firm; and Pang Xiuqiong, formerly a partner at Guo Long Law Firm.

The establishment of the Foshan office was driven by the city’s growing demand for legal services, the improving business environment, as well as its strategic position as a manufacturing hub and a key node in the Greater Bay Area. The new branch would further expand its team of partners and lawyers specialising in commercial disputes, IP, cross-border transactions, corporate compliance and criminal defence, W&H said.
