Another wave of injuries hit in Week 11, which creates a ripple effect through fantasy football. In addition to players seeing increased fantasy value because of injuries or new opportunities, others could see their stock fall because of a declining role or disappointing performance. Here are the top Week 12 fantasy football risers and fallers to keep in mind for your waiver wire claims, lineup decisions, and long-term roster strategy.
Week 12 Fantasy Football Risers
Trey McBride, TE, Arizona Cardinals
McBride thrived in a loss to the 49ers on Sunday, catching 10 of 11 targets for 115 yards and one touchdown. It was his second straight game with at least 100 receiving yards and his fifth straight with at least one touchdown. Over the last five games since Jacoby Brissett took over at quarterback, McBride has 42 receptions for 443 yards and six touchdowns. Kyler Murray (foot) isn’t expected to start again this season, so McBride should continue to thrive with his new quarterback under center.
Tyrone Tracy Jr., RB, New York Giants
The Giants went with a run-heavy approach during interim head coach Mike Kafka’s first game. Tracy was given a season-high 19 carries, which he turned into 88 yards. He also caught all four of his targets for 51 yards. Given their lack of talent at wide receiver, Kafka could continue to ask more of Tracy down the stretch, making him at least a viable flex option in fantasy.
Kyle Pitts, TE, Atlanta Falcons
The Falcons placed Michael Penix Jr. (knee) on injured reserve on Monday. Drake London (knee) is also considered as week to week. The Falcons have a veteran backup quarterback in Kirk Cousins who will take over, and Pitts could be his new top target. The Falcons will face the Saints in Week 12, who have allowed an average of 5.5 receptions a game to tight ends. Week 13 brings a matchup against the Jets, who have given up seven touchdowns to the position. Pitts is a viable option in deeper fantasy formats.
Week 12 Fantasy Football Fallers
Rachaad White, RB, Tampa Bay Buccaneers
Sean Tucker had 19 carries for the Buccaneers on Sunday, which he turned into 106 yards and two touchdowns. White logged 51 rushing yards on just 10 carries. Not only might Tucker have passed White on the Buccaneers’ depth chart, but Bucky Irving (shoulder) is nearing his return. It might be time to drop White in most leagues.
DK Metcalf, WR, Pittsburgh Steelers
Metcalf has gone three straight games without a touchdown and he hasn’t finished with more than 55 receiving since Week 6. Now, Aaron Rodgers is dealing with a wrist injury to his non-throwing hand. The injury could either sideline him, or impact his play if he is able to stay on the field. While Metcalf is a big name based on his past production, he’s more of a WR3 right now in fantasy.
Keon Coleman, WR, Buffalo Bills
Coleman reportedly missed a team meeting last week, so the Bills made him inactive against the Buccaneers. He wasn’t productive before that, posting fewer than 50 receiving yards in all but one of his games. While he should return for Week 12, he has a terrible matchup against a Texans team that has given up the third-fewest passing yards per game in the league.
Takeaway
McBride, Tracy, and Pitts are all on the rise heading into Week 12. The same can’t be said for White, Metcalf, and Coleman, with White and Coleman being drop candidates in most leagues.
