Saturday I played the finals of the 60 doubles with Vicki Buholz and my final (4th) round robin match in the women’s 65s and won both.

In singles I beat Heike Heimitz, who finished fourth in the 65s after narrowly losing to Reigl and Friedl earlier in the week. She does not have great strokes but despite the knee braces, runs very well!

Vicki Buholz won the 60 singles, beating Ellen Neumann of Germany in the final, playing a flawless match…onlookers said she should have played in the 45s or 50s instead! The 65s had a truly international field…only one Austrian (Ulrike), a German, a Portuguese player (Luisa Gouveia), a Canadian (MJ is a USA/Canadian dual citizen), and two Americans (Vicki and Catherine Morgan).

In doubles we beat Floridian MJ Pachl and Louisa Gouveia from Portugal in the final. It was no-ad which adds a lot of risk and intensity to each game.

The weather yesterday was lovely, 70s, and mostly sunny, the best day of the week and far away from the all-day rain we had on Wednesday.

In between matches, we socialized and had drinks (soft drinks…not alcohol for the players anyway!)

Bob Anderman from USA won the men’s 85 division, playing four matches over five days.

After the ceremonies (I won two bottles of sparkling wine, a bundt cake, honey from the region and medals…Vicki and her husband Steve are going to Italy on vacation from here so will enjoy the treats x 2 since Vicki won the same), I drove to Feld am See where Vicki, MJ and I are playing this week. I don’t play before Tuesday since I have a bye, but Vicki plays Monday since her draw is smaller, only 8 players.

Draws for Feld am See are here.
