Unfair to call Luis Henrique a flop after Inter decision and €25m investment

Luis Henrique was an important investment for Inter, who cost circa €25m from Olympique Marseille, but tagging him as a transfer flop seems imprudent and probably inopportune.

The deal was finalised and prepared to go through before the FIFA Club World Cup, precisely so that he would be available for that tournament in the USA.

Now there is a great deal of controversy around the fact that Inter are looking not towards Luis Henrique to replace injured Denzel Dumfries for the derby against AC Milan on Sunday evening, but would prefer to switch Carlos Augusto to the right flank.

Luis Henrique needs more time to make Inter mark

However, declaring him a flop because of that seems unfair and jumping the gun, because this is a situation that can be quite easy to explain.

Like all Brazilians, Luis Henrique is more of an attacking winger who can launch himself into space rather than a wide midfielder.

When it comes to covering the defence, the limits emerge of a player who is still adapting to a team and league that he is unaccustomed to.

Balance is essential for a team, so it is better to leave him time for that apprenticeship.
