‘Unbelievable stuff’ – Sunderland come back from 2-0 down to beat Bournemouth 3-2 in the Premier League on Saturday afternoon.
Amine Adli’s close-range finish (7′) and Tyler Adams’ stunning goal from the halfway line (15′) gave Bournemouth a 2-0 lead. But Enzo Le Fee’s spot kick (30′) and Bertrand Traore’s low strike (46′) had the hosts level.
Brian Brobbey came off the bench to head in Le Fee’s 69th-minute corner to complete the Black Cats’ turnaround, then Bournemouth’s Lewis Cook received a 96th-minute red card for an elbow on Noah Sadiki
It means that Regis Le Bris’ side have now picked up more home points (15) in seven league games this term than they did in the entirety of their last season in the top-flight (14 in 19 games).
Sunderland matchwinner Brian Brobbey: “We always keep fighting for each other until the very end and that’s what we did today.
Comparison to scoring v Arsenal: “It was even better and it feels really good to score the winning goal so I’m happy.
“The fans are like the 12th man, they are really behind you so it gives you a lot of confidence to keep going.”
Twitter users reacted after Sunderland come back from 2-0 down to beat Bournemouth 3-2…
@AmadMackem: Three games without a win coming into this. Liverpool, City, and Newcastle in the next three. 0-2 down after 15 mins against an impressive side. What a stunning win. Lost for words.
@marcussbell: perfect response from going 2-0 down, le bris subs spot on, happy to see mundle back on the pitch also, really think mundle 30 min cameo was very good, onto liverpool and city 🔴⚪️
@neil_hewitson: To all the earlier negative wankers, TIL THE END 💪💪💪
@AG17__: if i had a willy, it would be helicoptering right now. please inform the team
@KTBFFHChels: Never been happier for a newly promoted team. From league 1 not that long ago to smashing it in the prem. Remarkable stuff
@LimbsSunderland: Unbelievable composure from the lads to come from 2-0 down to win it! 😍
@Capt_Fishpaste: 1000 philosophers working for 1000 years wouldn’t be able to explain that game. What a team! #SAFC
@RejectedBook:
TWENTY TWO POINTS IN NOVEMBER . . .
Let that sink in . . .
18 more points to the magic 40 . . .
We can do this . . .
HAWAY THE LADS . . .
#SAFC
@Eddsyy: You don’t get much better than that for a game 🥶 #SAFC
@SAFCCR: What a performance. We didn’t deserve to go 2-0 down imo. Brobbey the hero again, Enzo class. Btw that has to be the strangest ref performance ever. Something very dodgy going on and their manager is the whiniest c*nt going. Other than that, unreal! HWTL 🔴⚪️ #SAFC
@WiseMenSayPod: Jesus. What a win. What a team. Huge three points. #SAFC
@UnderTheLight73: Oh also Enzo Le Fee in the middle of the park was absolutely sublime today. #SAFC
@BH7afcb: Today, as much as was unforgivable, was the pinnacle of a month of bad performances. 12 goals conceded in 4 games, 1 pt in 12 against a poor WHU. We desperately need a strong CM, possibly a Strong CB. Andoni needs to put this right, always been a very weak spot. Poor #afcb
@ashleyafcb1: I’m sorry but this is all on the manager … Evanilson has been awful all year and we have a young striker with 4 goals and he gets 5 minutes shocking from us. Another 2 nil lead bottled. Another 3 conceded and a red card now to boot, too many soft players not up for it #afcb
@Nate_AFCB: 2-0 up and it actually looked like it’d be a great game. Then I remembered we can’t defend for shit atm and you pretty much knew how it was going to end. #afcb
