Tom Cleverley reacts as his Plymouth side go bottom of League One, losing to Huddersfield, making it a fifth successive defeat for Argyle.
He vows to fight to turn around their dire form, losing 3-1 to the Terriers, leaving them with 13 points from 15 games played, 4 points from safety. Huddersfield sit 10th with 22 points from 14 games played.
Though Argyle have picked up just one point from their past five league games and recorded just one League One victory in almost two months.
They started the season with fifth defeats of their first six league games, then in September, with five wins in six games in all competitions.

The scenes between players and fans at full-time after Argyle beaten at Huddersfield and slip to bottom of the table
Posted by Plymouth Live on Saturday 8 November 2025
Plymouth boss Tom Cleverley said, per BBC Sport:
“It hurts a hell of a lot to say that your football team’s at the bottom of the league. That really hurts my pride.
“It’s not in my nature, but something that is in my nature is fighting, and until told otherwise I will grit my teeth, I will work hard, I will help the players whichever way I can and I’m up for the challenge.
“I can sit here and say we’ve got this many injuries and at Mansfield I had six subs and two of them played in the Youth Cup the next night.
“I can sit here and say we’ve got six away games on the bounce and the team has to travel the most.
“But it’s no use to anyone. What solutions am I going to find to get all that right? And that’s what I’m focusing on.
“We did it in September, where we won five games in a month, in a couple of different competitions, I know, but that’s what we need.
“I need to address the mentality of the players first because it’s just that they’re really lacking confidence from when we beat Stockport home, Luton away and Blackpool at home in a month.
“Their mindset and mentality looks a little bit shot to pieces at the minute.
“It’s manageable when it’s one or two players, when it’s eight, nine, 10 players and you’ve not got the squad to rotate that, it’s a difficult period.
“We will for sure be working as hard as ever and until told otherwise I will be doing my best to develop this young group and teach them how to be a bit more resilient.”

This is how fans reacted after Tom Cleverley reacts as Plymouth go bottom of League One with fifth successive defeat…
@TerrierNigel: Not fishing for an argument here but that Plymouth performance today was the worst I’ve seen in over a decade. & That includes from my own club who have put on some absolute dross over the years.
@hlockwooddd: Unlucky lads, you arent a bad team, you just need to work on passing, shooting, attacking, defending, goalkeeping, creating chances, dribbling, positioning, game management and also sportsmanship
@MaccaSouth: It’s blatantly obvious he has to go. Period. But ANY appeal we once had, has gone. Nobody will leave a job to come to us, because of our board we have 0 appeal. The only way we get a manager in is an unemployed manager. Aside from Derek Adam’s and Neil Warnock… who?! #pafc
@TheGreenJanner: Bottom of the league!!! Staring double relagation firm in the face. The club is rotten from top to bottom!!! Years of mismanagement at board level are now showing on the pitch disaster for 2 straight years!!
@philrendle: @SimonHallett you’ve lost the Green Army. There is no way back from that. Your legacy won’t be Fools don Park or the grandstand, it will be back to back relegations and how you have made OUR club a laughing stock.
@RogGorst2: Hallett out, Fox out, Cleverly out. Give us a chance of staying in this league PAUL PILGRIM1982 @pdemmett. I think he will walk. Board won’t sack him. An absolute shambles from top to bottom. Let’s see what Nance and Joe Edwards do…as we won’t pay for manager
@JackBarrowclou1: I didn’t realise just how dire you lot are and it’s a shame really because I’ve got a soft spot for Argyle as I go on holiday down there a lot, but you can’t be getting battered by us and be bottom of the league after just coming down. Safe travels home fellas
@ArgyleMemes: Chin up, Tom. We’re all in this together. #OneArgyle #StrongerTogether
@OfficialTomKirk: Embarrassed for the media team that they’ve had to put this out and not a picture of a corner flag. Mind-boggling.
@terry_gill: It’s like watching the world’s slowest car crash. Please, somebody do SOMETHING.
@SteveRetailer: I so wanted him to succeed as I can see lots of qualities but this ship has defo sailed. Must get someone in now with bucketloads of proven experience. Dont hang about @Argyle – bottom is bottom.
@JEales_: “Lack of quality”… while of course we all agree to an extent, you’ll completely lose the dressing room with that comment, if not already lost.
@jm_bell95: More I watch of Tom Cleverley’s post match reaction the worse I feel. I was one of many who applauded this appointment and thought we’d found our man. He’s swimming against the strongest of tides here and there’s no way out for him. Just very sad at the state we are in #pafc
@llewellyn2705: They don’t deserve our support! I can see myself down the front losing my voice while the cowards can’t face the loyal supporters who spend our hard earned money to watch the horror shows week after week! It hurts following argyle right now 😢 #pafc
