Nothing is worse than finally reaching the front of a boarding line only to discover you’ll be spending the next several hours on a crusty cushion alongside mysterious gobs. And even if the seats are pristine, who knows what you’ll find lurking behind that bathroom door when nature calls mid-flight.
If you’re looking to avoid the stains and spills, there’s one particular airline you should start racking up miles on; Skytrax’s annual World Airline Awards dubbed EVA Air the world’s cleanest airline of 2025. The Taiwanese airline scrubbed its way to the top by maintaining squeaky-clean cabins from carpet to ceiling, including bathrooms. Passengers can expect spotless windows, tidy seatback pockets, and armrests free of any gooey residue.
Japanese airline Ana All Nippon Airways was runner-up in the category, followed by Cathay Pacific Airways, Singapore Airlines, and Qatar Airways, which also snagged the title of overall best airline of 2025. Other notable winners include AirAsia for best low cost airline, Singapore Airlines for best cabin crew, and Cathay Pacific for best economy class.
After launching a route from Dallas to Taipei this fall, EVA Air has nine gateways in North America. Non-stop flights to Taiwan’s capital city are also available from Los Angeles, San Francisco, Chicago, New York, and Seattle.
All of EVA’s unsoiled tray tables are put to good use—its business class passengers can enjoy world-renowned soup dumplings thanks to the airline’s partnership with acclaimed restaurant chain Din Tai Fung. The grub is still good farther back on the plane, as EVA Air also claimed the No. 1 spot for best economy catering this year.
Based in Taoyuan City, Taiwan, EVA Air is most famous for introducing the world’s first premium economy cabins in the 90s. Today, it’s a member of the Star Alliance alongside 24 other airlines, including United, Air Canada, Turkish Airlines, and Lufthansa.
Skytrax collected feedback about over 325 airlines for its annual survey. The survey is issued in seven languages and respondents hail from over 100 different countries. Participants rank airlines from one to five in a long list of categories, including everything from the crew’s language skills and grooming to check-in waiting times, and cabin lighting. Even PA announcements from the cockpit are rated—yet another reason pilots need a healthy stash of dad jokes.
On the domestic side, Delta Airlines took home the award for cleanest airline in North America. The carrier also came in second place for the overall best airline in North America, losing out only to Air Canada.
