The modern world is structured in such a way that each country has clearly defined borders. But speaking of borders, we wondered what the oldest border in Europe is. After a brief check, we found out that the oldest border in Europe is the one between Portugal and Spain. It stretches for over 1200 kilometers, but its length is not the most impressive.
According to Fascinating Spain, the border dates back to the Kingdom of Portugal in 1297. What is impressive is that its borders have hardly changed drastically over all these centuries. We know well that the borders of many other countries in Europe have been changed due to wars, but not the one between Portugal and Spain.
However, there are some misunderstandings between the two countries. Like the one about the town of Olivenza, which is located within Spain, but Portugal claims that it should be part of it.
