Chad Spodick, the former child actor turned reality competition contestant, has died at the age of 42. The cause of his passing has not been announced at press time.

“Our hearts are shattered as we share the devastating news of the loss of our beautiful, kind, and generous son, brother and friend Chad,” wrote Spodick’s friend Kate Werbowski on a fundraising page, which was created to raise money for Spodick’s mother, Felice Harwood, to fund “funeral arrangements and ongoing living expenses.”

“Chad was the type of person who poured himself into others. He lifted up his friends, encouraged everyone around him to grow, to advocate for themselves, and to believe in their own worth,” she wrote. “His love for animals was unmatched — he cared deeply for every creature, especially his four beloved dogs and his bird, Cosmo. The world was brighter with Chad in it, and those who were lucky enough to know him felt the warmth of his heart every day.”

Spodick, who was employed as a real estate agent and flight attendant outside of acting, was one of 13 men vying for the affections of bachelor Robert Sepulveda Jr. on the gay dating show Finding Prince Charming in 2016, which was hosted by Lance Bass. He quit the show amid a growing controversy after it was revealed that Sepúlveda Jr., had concealed his past as an escort.

Born Chad Aaron Spodick in 1983, he began his career as a young actor, performing in Off-Broadway productions such as Kerouac (The Musical) and Stanley at Circle in the Square. He appeared in television and film in productions including The Yards in 2000 and The Boys of Sunset Ridge in 2001.

Spodick is survived by his mother, Felice Harwood, who was listed as the beneficiary on the GoFundMe page.
