Yudianta Medio Simbolon, managing partner of Simbolon & Partners
Indonesia’s Simbolon & Partners has teamed up with BNG Legal, a Cambodian law firm with offices in Myanmar and Cambodia, to enhance its cross-border legal service capabilities within the Asean region.
“Through this collaboration, we aim to strengthen our service offerings in key practice areas such as investment, corporate and commercial transactions, legal due diligence, dispute resolution, and intellectual property rights (IPR) matters,” Yudianta Medio Simbolon told Asia Business Law Journal.
He noted a steady increase in cross-border investments, joint ventures and infrastructure-related projects among Indonesian, Myanmarese and Cambodian stakeholders. There was also growing interest in compliance, corporate structuring and intellectual property protection as businesses expanded regionally, said Simbolon.
He added that Indonesian clients had increasingly sought advice on foreign direct investment (FDI), corporate restructuring, due diligence, intellectual property and dispute resolution matters.
While the firm currently has no plans of deploying dedicated teams to Myanmar or Cambodia, Simbolon said it remained open to exploring such opportunities in the future.
“For now, our focus is on expanding our client base and deepening collaboration with BNG Legal through ongoing joint assignments and knowledge sharing,” said Simbolon.
He also emphasised that this collaboration had been in discussion and development for several months and was officially formalised in the past month.
BNG Legal is a full-service commercial law firm that regularly handles corporate affairs, investment facilitation, intellectual property management, and other business affairs for international and local clients.
