Acting on the directive of President Bola Tinubu, Vice President Kashim Shettima on Sunday departed to lead Nigeria’s delegation to the 80th session of the United Nations General Assembly in New York from September 22 to 28, 2025.
Shettima will join global leaders on the opening day, September 22, to mark the UN’s 80th anniversary. From September 23 to 28, he will participate in high-level general debates and deliver Nigeria’s national statement on September 24.
The Vice President is also scheduled to attend a special climate event hosted by the UN Secretary-General, where Nigeria will announce its new Nationally Determined Contributions under the Paris Agreement.
According to a statement by his media aide, additionally, the Vice President will take part in the Global Champions on Adequate and Affordable Housing roundtable hosted by Kenya’s President and engage in various bilateral meetings.
After the UN sessions, he will proceed to Frankfurt, Germany, for a meeting with Deutsche Bank officials before returning to Nigeria.
