Reed Smith lifts regulatory team with HK-Shanghai partner

Ji Jieni

Reed Smith has hired Ji Jieni as a Shanghai and Hong Kong-based partner to bolster the firm’s global regulatory enforcement group.

The former of counsel at A&O Shearman’s Hong Kong office will spearhead Reed Smith’s development in Greater China’s compliance and regulatory practice. She will be advising clients on compliance matters related to economic sanctions, export controls, anti-corruption laws, data protection regulations and anti-money laundering laws.

Ji has garnered 14 years of experience in the legal sector and is qualified in New York, England and Wales, and China. She has advised companies on complex US litigation, such as those from the healthcare, technology and energy sectors.

“We are experiencing an uptick in demand for Jieni’s skill set due to an increasingly complex geopolitical landscape,” said Mike Lowell, chair of Reed Smith’s global regulatory enforcement group.

“Her arrival strengthens our existing regulatory and enforcement offering in Asia and enables us to continue to deliver the very best service to our clients globally. We are thrilled to have her onboard.”
