Chelsea’s Reece James and Marc Cucurella celebrate

12. William Saliba

Arsenal

11. Nick Woltemade

Newcastle

Mohamed Salah got himself back on the scoresheet at Brentford, albeit in a losing effort for Liverpool, while Jack Grealish finds himself out of the top ten as Everton struggle for form.

Nick Woltemade is on the verge of cracking the top ten as he continues to fire for Newcastle, while Cristian Romero’s injury sees him drop a couple of places and William Saliba flies up the rankings since returning from his own spell on the sidelines.

10

Dominik Szoboszlai – Liverpool

Perhaps the only Liverpool player who can hold his head high over the last month, the Hungary international was arguably the man of the match at Brentford despite defeat, making six tackles, setting up Salah’s goal and playing just about every position on the pitch.

9

Jean-Philippe Mateta – Crystal Palace

Mateta performed an almost unthinkable feat in the draw against Bournemouth, under-performing his expected goals while scoring a hat-trick. While he was held to a blank more recently against Arsenal, expect the Frenchman to get firing again when Palace face Brentford next weekend.

8

Bukayo Saka – Arsenal

Arsenal’s ‘star boy’ had a mixed start to the season hampered by injuries, but has returned to the side and returned to form without skipping a beat, shining in the wins against Fulham and Palace.

7

Moises Caicedo – Chelsea

Caicedo is doing everything you could ask of a central midfielder for Chelsea, making over three tackles per game and popping up on the scoresheet regularly.

6

Jurrien Timber – Arsenal

Is there a better right-back in world football right now than Timber? We don’t think so. The Netherlands international has made Arsenal’s right flank his own and was dominant once again in the win over Palace.

5

Bruno Fernandes – Man United

Put a little quality around him and suddenly you see the real Bruno. The United skipper’s “assist” to let the ball run under his foot through to Bryan Mbeumo against Brighton was simply stunning.

4

Antoine Semenyo – Bournemouth

Semenyo was hot property in the summer but signed a new contract with Bournemouth, and the Cherries will be delighted he did. The 25 year-old has six goals and three assists, and the only people happier than Andoni Iraola will be his Fantasy managers.

3

Declan Rice – Arsenal

A lot of the work Rice does at the Emirates Stadium may go unnoticed, but the England international has been superb once again. Adding end product to his game over the last 12 months, he has scored once and provided two assists so far this term.

2

Erling Haaland – Man City

Relegated to second place after his blank in a 1-0 defeat at Villa, Haaland is still absolutely unstoppable on his day and a shoo-in for the Golden Boot if he stays fit.

1

Gabriel Magalhaes – Arsenal

“I think he’s now the real leader in this team,” Liverpool legend Carragher said of Gabriel this weekend. “I think Saliba’s a fantastic player, I always felt Gabriel was maybe the junior partner if you like. I think that’s changed for me now.”

The Brazil international is perhaps the favourite to win the PFA Player of the Year crown, dominating at the back and a constant threat in the opposition penalty area at set pieces.
