Preliminary results announced for presidential elections in Turkish Republic of Northern Cyprus

BAKU, Azerbaijan, October 19. Preliminary
results of the presidential elections in the Turkish Republic of
Northern Cyprus have been released, Trend reports.

With 48.19% of the ballots counted, Republican Turkish Party
leader Tufan Erhürman is leading with 63.38% of the vote. Incumbent
president and independent candidate Ersin Tatar has received 35.27%
so far.

The first round of presidential elections has concluded in the
Turkish Republic of Northern Cyprus, Trend reports.

Voting ended at 18:00 local time (19:00 Baku time) across 777
polling stations nationwide. To secure a victory in the first
round, a candidate must receive more than 50% of the vote. If no
candidate achieves this majority, a runoff will be held seven days
later.

Seven candidates competed for the presidency of the TRNC.

The first round of presidential elections has begun in the
Turkish Republic of Northern Cyprus, Trend reports.

Voting opened at 08:00 local time and will continue until 18:00.
A total of 777 polling stations have been set up across the
country.

To win in the first round, a candidate must secure more than 50%
of the vote. If no contender achieves this majority, a second round
will be held seven days later.

Seven candidates are competing for the presidency of Northern
Cyprus.
