Christopher & Lee Ong (CLO), a member of Rajah & Tann Asia, is merging with Sanjay Mohan Advocates & Solicitors to enhance its advisory, transactional and contentious mandates services in the country and across the region.
Kuok Yew Chen, CLO’s managing partner, told Asia Business Law Journal that the merger would strengthen the firm’s bench in litigation, arbitration and projects.
As part of the merger, which will take effect on 1 January 2026, Sanjay Mohan’s managing partner Sanjay Mohanasundram will become head of disputes at CLO. He would bring a team of 28 lawyers, including seven partners and one consultant, said Mohanasundram, adding that Sanjay Mohan would be dissolved on the same date.
Kuok said CLO’s clients sought support in corporate advisory and transactional matters, regulatory compliance and dispute resolution, and Mohanasundram and his team’s expertise would complement CLO’s current litigation and arbitration offerings.
The firms’ combined expertise also enables CLO to deliver advice while giving clients access to a broader regional network for cross-border issues, said Kuok
Currently, John Mathew serves as a senior partner, co-head of restructuring and insolvency and head of CLO’s dispute resolution practice. Kuok said that following the merger, Mathew would remain a senior partner at the firm and continue as a key contributor to the growth and strategy of its dispute resolution offerings.
