AC Milan were held to a frustrating 2-2 draw by bottom side Pisa at San Siro as Massimiliano Allegri’s team dropped more valuable points in the Serie A title race.
The hosts started strongly and took a deserved lead after just seven minutes, when Rafael Leao found space on the edge of the area and guided a precise low finish into the far corner.
Milan controlled much of the first half, with Luka Modric and Youssouf Fofana dictating the tempo and Alexis Saelemaekers posing a constant threat from the right. Pisa rarely threatened, their best chance seeing Nicholas Bonfanti blaze over before Ebenezer Akinsanmiro shot off target from distance.
Despite Milan’s dominance, they failed to add to their lead before the break, leaving the game finely poised at 1-0 heading into the second half.
Pisa responded after the restart and levelled on the hour mark. Following a VAR check for handball against Koni De Winter, Juan Cuadrado calmly converted from the penalty spot to make it 1-1.
The equaliser unsettled Milan, who briefly lost their rhythm and allowed Pisa to gain confidence. Allegri’s men eventually regrouped, with Saelemaekers forcing a fine save from Adrian Semper and Leao rattling the crossbar as pressure mounted.
Against the run of play, Pisa stunned the hosts five minutes from time when Nzola found space to finish and put the visitors 2-1 up.
Deep into stoppage time, substitute Zachary Athekame rescued Milan with a close-range strike from Modrić’s cross, but the late goal could not mask a disappointing night for the Rossoneri, who were left ruing missed chances and defensive lapses.
Sevilla beaten by Real Sociedad
Real Sociedad ended their three-game winless run in LaLiga with a much-needed 2-1 victory over Sevilla at the Reale Arena.
La Real took the lead after 19 minutes when Fábio Cardoso handled in the box, and captain Mikel Oyarzabal confidently converted from the penalty spot.
Sevilla hit back on the half-hour mark as Nemanja Gudelj’s deflected strike from Gabriel Suazo’s free-kick found its way past Álex Remiro, but Sociedad quickly restored their advantage when Oyarzabal struck again, turning sharply to fire into the bottom corner for his second of the night.
After the break, Sociedad showed impressive discipline and control, limiting Sevilla to few chances and managing the game effectively to protect their lead.
The visitors mustered just five second-half attempts, none on target, as Sociedad climbed to 14th in the table, while Sevilla missed the chance to move into the European places.
