Barcelona goalkeeper Marc-Andre ter Stegen does not want to leave in the January transfer window, according to Marca. Chelsea are keen on signing Ter Stegen on a loan deal in the middle of the season.
Ter Stegen underwent back surgery in the summer and is now recovering from it. The Germany international goalkeeper is not expected to be back to full fitness until January 2026, but he faces a tough task to get back into the starting line-up.
Barcelona signed Joan Garcia from city rivals Espanyol in the summer of 2025, and when fit and available, he is the number one goalkeeper for the defending Spanish champions. While Ter Stegen does not fancy leaving Barca in the middle of the season, he faces a spell on the substitutes’ bench should he stay at the Blaugrana, who are five points behind leaders and bitter rivals Real Madrid in second place in the La Liga table at the moment.
