Kingland adds IP partner in Beijing | China

Song Xudong

Kingland Partners has hired veteran intellectual property lawyer Song Xudong, who has 20 years of experience, as a partner in Beijing, strengthening the firm’s capabilities in IP and unfair competition matters.

Song previously spent eight years at King & Wood Mallesons, rising from counsel to partner and focusing on IP litigation and complex commercial disputes. He has advised clients across sectors including insurance, internet, technology and financial investment. In July, he briefly joined DaHui Lawyers as a partner.

Earlier in his career, Song served as a judge for 12 years at the Beijing Intellectual Property Court and the Beijing Shijingshan District Court, during which he handled more than 2,700 IP cases.

A spokesperson for Kingland told China Business Law Journal: “Mr Song’s combined background as a seasoned judge and leading practitioner gives him an exceptional ability to navigate complex legal issues, particularly in intellectual property and commercial dispute resolution. We look forward to working with him to deliver more strategically insightful legal services to our clients.”

Song said Kingland’s hybrid “corporate + team-based” operating model was a key reason behind his decision to join. “This structure offers both professional depth and collaborative flexibility, and its unique advantages strongly appealed to me,” he said.
