John Textor offers to buy Wolves; Jose Sa, Strand Larsen and Pereira on clashing with fans

According to reports, John Textor offers to buy Wolves, as Jose Sa, Jorgen Strand Larsen and Vitor Pereira open up on clashing with fans.

On Sunday afternoon, Molineux experienced a toxic atmosphere after Lyle Foster’s 95th-minute winner sealed a 3-2 defeat to Burnley.

Fans chanted for the club to be sold and for manager Vitor Pereira to be sacked, with fractures long simmering under owners Fosun and executive chairman Jeff Shi. There were also heated post-match exchanges between players, Pereira, and the supporters.

It is fuelled by the summer sales of star players Matheus Cunha and Rayan Ait-Nouri without adequate replacements, leaving the squad lacking quality despite nearly £100m reinvested in unproven European talent, BBC Sport reports.

It leaves them bottom of the Premier League and winless in nine games, echoing last season’s 11-match wait for a victory, with Wolves seemingly appearing set for a relegation battle.

Vitor Pereira dragged away from spat with Wolves fans after Burnley’s 95th minute winner

Pereira, who signed a new three-year deal just 38 days ago and retains the backing of Shi, the board, and players like Jorgen Strand Larsen, insists job security is irrelevant and urges unity with fans, believing two or three wins could transform the mood as his experience guides another survival fight.

@alex_crook: “#Wolves sources insist Vitor Pereira is not under immediate threat despite 0 wins in 9. Board clearly not happy with results and situation could change if they sense any dressing room unrest. There is also a realisation newly-promoted clubs are more competitive.

“Wolves could sack Pereira of course but ultimately they are going to go down, not because of him nor Gary O’Neil nor Lopetegui but because they have sold too many players and not recruited well enough. If you circle the drain long enough…”

With new director Domenico Teti reinforcing Pereira’s position and historical precedent showing recovery is possible after a dire start, the manager acknowledges lessons must be learned quickly.

“Sometimes, you just have to go and listen,” Strand Larsen said to reporters after the game. “It’s hard to say anything because you don’t want to make it worse, so I think this was about allowing them to speak and us listening.

“These supporters are the ones who drive us forward. They are always there for us, always have been and I can understand their frustration right now.”

On the players backing Vitor: “Yes, of course, all of us are.

“We know what we did last season. We’re not blaming anyone here. Obviously, it’s tough for a team with a lot of changes in the summer.

“There are a loads of new faces and it needs time to adapt. That’s why I’m feel like in the last few games we’re getting there.”

He then tweeted: “A sad day for everyone who loves Wolves. We understand the frustration and the disbelief after the game, we still want to thank all of you for showing up and backing the team as much as you can.

“We need to do better, starting with each player looking themselves in the mirror to improve. Definitely me, as I’m always the first one to look at myself for improvement. I love this club and I haven’t showed enough this season so far, as I also have been pushing through an injury.

“Wolves never give up, and now it’s the time to reset and keep on going. So much to play for still and no time to be feeling down! See you soon, thank you 🧡”

João Gomes also tweeted: “We haven’t won a game in the premier league for a long time and you still fill the stadium every game, what can we tell you? 90% of the fans of other teams would have already abandoned us, but you are still here and yours will continue. Just thank you, we promise to work hard and give our best.”

“It’s normal in football, if we win two or three games in a row everything changes,” said Pereira in his post-match press conference.

“Two months ago they sing my name because of the work we did last season [means] we are competing in the Premier League and not in the Championship. Now they sing my name maybe to sack me.

“I’m not worried [about his job], it’s not about me. It’s about the team, the players. My work is to help them to come again, to be mentally strong for the next fight.”

🗣️ “Today, they gave everything’

Pereira also tried to diffuse any tension with supporters, revealing what he said to the revolting fans.

“What I said to them is we work a lot and we need to fight together,” he said.

“I understand the frustration. When you are there for 90 minutes trying to help the team and the team gave everything on the pitch to win but, in the end, you concede a goal, I understand the frustration.

“What I must say to them is if we fight with them, united, we can win games. If not, without them, it’s impossible.”

Meanwhile, reports state that John Textor has made an offer to buy Wolves — $200M in cash and $350M in shares.

It’s expected this offer may be rejected though as it’s thought Fosun wouldn’t be interested in Textor’s Eagle shares and only wants to sell a minority stake.

Textor’s bid for Wolves was sent via Moelis, the bank Fosun is using to market its shares.

He is also said to be looking at investing in one of Charlton, Derby, QPR, Watford and Sheffield Wednesday.

Here’s how Twitter users reacted as John Textor offers to buy Wolves; while Jose Sa, Strand Larsen and Pereira open up on clashing with fans…

@OldWolfie75: @Fosun_Intl there’s your smoking gun. Clearly, there’s dressing room unrest. Sa explains it’s not the players fault. Backs up my theory that there’s no strategy in games and players seem baffled by what to do. I know they’re paid mega £’s but only play to what they’re told #wwfc

@banksy_v23: That’s it surround a player that wasn’t even playing makes a lot of sense that 🤔 how about venting frustration at the main problem FOSUN!! Jeff shi the little rat #wwfc #fosunout

@kevtheman10: I’ve just seen that Jose Sa video. I have to say it wasn’t fair of those to confront him leaving the ground, even though he didn’t play against Burnley yesterday. However, you have to fair play to him talking to the fans and saying how it is. It has been shit for a while.🐺 #WWFC

@maccawolves: Jose sa 👏👏👏 If you listen carefully to what he is saying, it’s clear who the players feel the blame lies with… #wwfc

@WV1Rep: Textor won’t be buying us, that’s a certainty with the stubborness and reluctance of Fosun. We just need out of the corruption and neglect that is Chinese ownership ASAP before further irreversible damage is done. Protest, protest, protest. #WWFC #Wolves #FosunOut

@MolineuxExpress: Out of anyone you could go at, it’s the goalkeeper who wasn’t on the pitch. Jose has not featured in the last four games so doesn’t deserve to have to put up with this. Aim your anger at the true issues. Sa also deals with this situation incredibly well by the way 👏 #wwfc

@MrRyanLeister:
#wwfc
• Owner – silent
• Chairman – incompetent
• Manager – delusional
• Players – under performing
If you only pursue a club that gets the basics correct, maybe Wolves aren’t for you.

@letsdigit: If you’re a season ticket holder with a ticket for Wednesday. Give it a miss. Don’t be told you should be proud of yesterday. Don’t be treated like a mug by these owners. Boycott it. #wwfc

@jonevans91: Feel for Wolves, feels a bit like the Lerner era for Villa after O’Neill left. Since 22/23 they’ve sold nearly all the key players, and have a squad of ~€20m untested players. Made €70m+ profit on players in/out in that time. Looking very lightweight for this league.#avfc #wwfc

@Bun2495: Ngl this is a bit embarrassing and not because of Sa. I’m just as pissed as anyone else but why you out beefing the players? They may be on high wages, they may be representing our club, but responsibility is always held by management. We should be complaining higher up #wwfc

@LiamFleck: Fair play to Sa for stopping and listening. Would rather the fans stood waiting on Shi than the players left behind after he and Fosun have sold anyone with any quality #wwfc

@notsouniquename: I don’t have a problem with VP getting angry after the game. I wish he was more angry before a game tbh. Someone in the hierarchy needs to be firing a round of fucks into the club and the fools who run it #wwfc
