“I want to be a patent lawyer,” said Anand in his acceptance speech, describing the day his school principal at St Xavier’s Delhi asked all the nine-year-olds about their ambitions. He also shared that his vision was etched in the memory of one of his friends, and when he called him up 40 years later his friend reminded him of the episode with much warmth.

The APAA Enduring Impact Award, established in 2009, recognises exceptional engagement, contribution and loyalty by long-serving APAA members in leadership roles. It is a lifetime honour granted by invitation only, based purely on merit and independent of financial contribution or office held.

The award is given to members with at least 20 years of active service.

Anand has appeared in more than 3,000 cases during 43 years of practising as an IP lawyer. The award was conferred at a ceremony in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia, where members had convened for the 21st General Assembly and council meeting of the APAA.
