The International Blockchain Organisation (Malaysia) was officially launched recently, marking a significant milestone in the nation’s journey towards blockchain innovation, digital inclusion, and Web3 ecosystem development.

In a statement, IBO Malaysia said that as part of a global initiative to foster trust, transparency, and collaboration in blockchain technologies, the organisation aims to position Malaysia as a regional hub for blockchain research, innovation, and responsible adoption.

The launch brought together key players from industry, academia, and the blockchain community to witness Malaysia’s next step in digital transformation.

“Blockchain technology is not just about cryptocurrency – it represents the foundation of a transparent, secure, and decentralised future. IBO Malaysia is committed to creating a collaborative platform that connects innovators, regulators, and enterprises to unlock blockchain’s full potential across industries,” said Rolv Reissiger, chief business development officer of IBO Malaysia.

IBO Malaysia will focus on four key pillars:

  • Policy advocacy and regulatory alignment: Facilitating constructive dialogue with policymakers to promote responsible blockchain adoption.
  • Education and talent development: Building blockchain literacy and nurturing the next generation of blockchain professionals through partnerships with universities and training institutions.
  • Industry collaboration and innovation: Encouraging blockchain applications in finance, supply chain, healthcare, sustainability, and the creative industries.
  • International engagement: Strengthening Malaysia’s role in the global blockchain network through strategic alliances with international organisations.

The establishment of IBO Malaysia comes as the nation accelerates its digital transformation agenda. With blockchain set to redefine trust and value exchange, the organisation aims to support the government’s vision of a robust, inclusive, and innovation-driven digital economy.

“The future of blockchain is borderless – and so is our mission. Through partnerships, education, and innovation, we aim to make Malaysia a trusted node in the global blockchain ecosystem,” Reissiger added.
