Hollywood star Tom Holland, best known for playing Spider-Man in the Marvel Cinematic Universe, has sustained a mild concussion while filming the next installment of the franchise.
A source close to the production confirmed to CNN that the 29-year-old actor was injured on set but did not require hospitalization. The incident has been described as “contained,” with no other cast or crew members affected.
“Tom experienced a mild concussion and, out of precaution, will take a short break from filming. He is expected to return to work within a few days,” the source said. Production is expected to continue as planned.
The new film, reportedly titled Spider-Man: Brand New Day, marks Holland’s fourth solo outing as the iconic web-slinger. The franchise, produced by Marvel Studios and Sony Pictures, has become one of the most successful superhero series in box office history, with Holland at its center since 2016.
Holland’s portrayal of Peter Parker first appeared in Captain America: Civil War and quickly became a fan favorite. His Spider-Man trilogy — Homecoming, Far From Home, and No Way Home — grossed over $3.9 billion worldwide and played a major role in Marvel’s interconnected film universe. He has also featured in blockbuster ensemble projects such as Avengers: Infinity War and Avengers: Endgame.

Away from superhero films, Holland has taken on diverse roles, starring in the psychological drama Cherry and the action-adventure film Uncharted, showcasing his range beyond comic book adaptations.
The British actor began his career as a child, earning critical acclaim for his performance in the West End production of Billy Elliot the Musical before transitioning to film with 2012’s disaster drama The Impossible. His ability to balance blockbuster action roles with more grounded performances has made him one of Hollywood’s most bankable young stars.
The concussion has sparked concern among fans, but industry insiders stress that Holland’s recovery is expected to be quick. Safety protocols on major film sets typically include medical evaluations and rest periods for actors in such cases, helping to minimize disruption to shooting schedules.
Filming for Spider-Man: Brand New Day is expected to resume on schedule, with Holland back in costume within days.
