The General Counsels’ Association of India (GCAI) is set to roll out the inaugural edition of its flagship Youth Unchained Through Knowledge and Transformative Internships (YUKTI), a national internship, mentoring and skilling programme, from 5 January 2026 at the Dr Ambedkar International Centre in New Delhi.
As part of its key contribution to Viksit Bharat @ 2047 (Developed India by 2047) – India’s vision of becoming a fully developed economy and society by the 100th anniversary of independence in 2047 – the GCAI is committed to nurturing legal professionals. “This is the first time that a corporate internship, in person, of this level and scale, experiential learning, is being launched anywhere, globally,” said GCAI co-founder Akhil Prasad.
Designed as a 19-day immersive corporate internship, YUKTI aims to bridge the gap between classroom learning and real-world in-house legal practice by offering law students structured exposure to corporate advisory, compliance, transactions, litigation and regulatory work.
The first batch is expected to host about 100 law students, selected from law schools and universities across India. The programme will feature senior in-house leaders, law firm partners, judges, government officials and industry experts as faculty.
The convocation ceremony, on 30 January 2026, is expected to be attended by senior members of the judiciary and the cabinet. Applications will be routed through participating law schools and universities, with final selection at the GCAI’s discretion.
