Galatasaray Football Club—Turkish champions has renewed interest in Super Eagles forward as Atalanta brace for potential winter bid amid ongoing transfer talks.
Turkish Super Lig champions Galatasaray have reignited their pursuit of Ademola Lookman, the Super Eagles and Atalanta forward, as the January transfer window approaches, according to reports in local media.
The Istanbul giants had made a determined effort to sign the Nigerian international last summer but were unable to reach an agreement with his Italian club. Now, with the winter window looming, club officials are said to be in renewed discussions with Lookman’s representatives and are preparing a formal offer to Atalanta.
There are reports that Galatasaray manager Okan Buruk remains eager to bring Lookman to the Nef Stadium after identifying him as a priority target to strengthen the club’s attack. Buruk, whose side leads the league and is competing in Europe, reportedly views the winger’s pace and versatility as key assets for the second half of the season.
Lookman, who was named African Player of the Year, has attracted attention across Europe following an impressive spell in Italy. He was instrumental for Atalanta in Serie A and European competitions, with his creativity and direct play earning him recognition among the continent’s top forwards.

During the summer transfer window, the 26-year-old was linked with several clubs, including Inter Milan, but negotiations stalled when Atalanta stood firm on their valuation. Sources close to the club say Atalanta are reluctant to let him go unless a substantial offer arrives.
Lookman’s career has spanned several leagues since his early days at Charlton Athletic in England. He moved to Everton for €10 million in 2017 before joining RB Leipzig, where his performances in the Bundesliga earned him another transfer worth €18 million. Later, he enjoyed loan spells at Fulham and Leicester City in the Premier League before signing permanently with Atalanta for around €11 million in 2022.
Since then, Lookman has been a standout performer for the Italian side, contributing 52 goals and 25 assists in 121 appearances across all competitions.
For Galatasaray, securing his signature would be a statement of intent as they aim to defend their domestic crown and push deeper into continental competition.
Negotiations are expected to continue in the coming weeks, with both clubs weighing financial terms ahead of what could become one of the most high-profile transfers of the Turkish winter market.
