Fire at Bosmans Tuin & Dier Garden centre in Bertem controlled

Bertem (Brussels Morning Newspaper) – A fire broke out at the Bosmans Tuin & Dier garden centre in Bertem on Nov 15, 2025, around 7.15 a.m. Police and firefighters contained it quickly. Commissioner Kris Geeraerts confirmed it was accidental, with no injuries reported.

As VRT News reported, a fire broke out early Saturday morning, Nov 15, 2025, in the storage area of the Bosmans Tuin & Dier garden centre on the Tervuursesteenweg in Bertem, in the province of Flemish Brabant, Belgium.

The Voer & Dijle police zone received the call around 7.15 a.m. and sent emergency teams to the scene. The fire started in the storage space under the main shop, a section that is being renovated, the garden centre said.

What happened during the fire at Bosmans Tuin & Dier in Bertem with no injuries?

Police officers blocked the road for a short time so firefighters could work safely. The fire brigade quickly brought the situation under control and stopped the fire from spreading to other parts of the building.

Commissioner Kris Geeraerts stated that the fire was accidental and reported that traffic was moving again by 8 a.m. No injuries were reported. The damage was limited to the renovated storage area. The shop says its activities will continue as normal while repairs are carried out in the affected area.

A similar incident happened in Belgium last year at the Groendekor garden centre in Sint-Pieters-Leeuw. A fire broke out in February 2023 and caused heavy damage to several parts of the building, including the office area, the flower section, and the décor department. The public prosecutor said the blaze was probably accidental and may have started due to a short circuit during renovation works. Fire crews brought the fire under control, and no injuries were reported.
