Let’s face it: this autumn it’s hard to see beyond the brown boots. We’ve suggested plenty of alternatives, from edgy black biker boots to timeless ankle styles, in both black and brown, but maroon’s dominance continues. It’s just as classic as any neutral, but its deep reddish tinge is capable of elevating any color palette, from creams and beiges as proposed by Hermès for its fall 2025 collection to the high contrast it delivers when mixed with blue or red à la Stella McCartney.

Burgundy boots are just as popular among the street style set, seen in both in tall and bootie formats; in high gloss patent leather, in suede, and even a croc finish.
The right pair of jeans can be tucked into these boots, but they work especially with with dresses and skirts. Take cues from one showgoer and style it with a ribbed-knit dress and scarf knotted at the waist for a tonal look. Or, use a pair of flat knee-highs to toughen up a satin pink minidress. Another idea is to team it up with neutrals, like dark gray separates and black accessories.

If you opt to style it with a skirt, the trick is to make sure there’s a touch of maroon elsewhere, be it through a sleeveless top, a turtleneck sweater, or a bomber in a slightly darker shade. Here, you can also play with trends, such as pairing it with a fringe or lace-trimmed lingerie-inspired skirt, allowing your burgundy boots to peak out from underneath.
The market has options for all tastes and budgets. If you prefer a low-heeled sensible model, look to Staud and Reformation; Gucci offers a luxe take on the riding boot in glossy burgundy, and Neous taps into another seasonal trend (suede) with its short and tall styles.
