F1 reveals why it selected Germany as F1 Exhibition’s new locations

After six locations over the course of the the last two years, the F1 Exhibition is set to move to a new venue, with Germany’s Oberhausen due to help F1 fans to delve deeper into the world of the pinnacle of motorsport.

After captivating audiences in Madrid, Vienna, Toronto, London, Buenos Aires, and most recently Amsterdam, the German city of Oberhausen has been announced as the next European city to host the Formula 1 Exhibition, with the doors set to open to public on 22 October 2025.

Part of Germany’s former industrial heartland, the Ruhr, Oberhausen is one of several cultural hotspots in a region renowned for its industrial monuments, festivals, museums and theatres.

Speaking of the new locations, F1’s Chief Commercial Officer, Emily Prazer has highlighted the fact that the Germany has been selected because of its legacy which includes the success of Michael Schumacher and Sebastian Vettel and the memorable races at the Nürburgring and the Hockenheimring.

“We are excited to bring F1 Exhibition to Germany. Since our first show in Madrid, the Formula 1 Exhibition has been a great success in showcasing Formula 1’s history.

“Germany as a country is integral to the sport’s story with iconic tracks such as the Nürburgring and great champions including Michael Schumacher and Sebastian Vettel, whose legacies we still feel today. We cannot wait for fans in Germany to delve deeper into F1 and learn more about the sport they love.”

Reflecting on the announcement, Jonathan Linden, who works as Co-CEO of Round Room Live and Producer of The Formula 1 Exhibition, said:”We are delighted to announce Oberhausen as the next stop on the European tour of our exhibition.

“Germany has a long-standing tradition of racing and has a meaningful influence on the world of Formula 1, with outstanding driver personalities and legendary racetracks.”

Commenting on behlf of FKP Scorpio Entertainment, Folkert Koopmans said: “It is great to be able to announce the next exhibition highlight at OBEX right after The Last Days of Pompeii.

“Formula 1 The Exhibition offers everything you could wish for: Top sporting memorabilia, fascinating technology, extraordinary contributors, dramatic events and plenty of exciting stories – all brought to life in a unique way in this exhibition.”

What does F1 Exhibitions offer to fans?

The exhibitions begins with a room that is branded as ‘Once Upon A Time In Formula 1.’ It includes a gallery of previously unpublished photos, films, artefacts and numerous interviews with the sport’s most famous personalities, which takes visitors through some of the most popular and defining moments in F1 history.

The Design Lab gives an insight into the development of an F1 race car and shows how the teams design and produce various new components for their cars.

This is followed by the Drivers and Duels room, which celebrates the most legendary drivers and memorable moments since the start of Formula 1 in 1950.

The following room is an expansion of the ‘Design Lab’, providing fans with an experience in the room called ‘Revolution By Design’ where it is all about innovation and ingenuity, ground-breaking technical advances and designs and the unique power of Formula 1.

The next section, Survival, focuses on Romain Grosjean’s dramatic crash in Bahrain in 2020, featuring the remnants of his HAAS car and a video installation with unpublished interviews.

The exhibition ends with a spectacular finale: Pit Wall is an immersive multimedia experience that brings the greatest and most captivating moments in Formula 1 history to life once again.

In addition, fans can also look forward to a dedicated German room celebrating the country’s deep-rooted influence on Formula 1. This special area will spotlight iconic moments from the Nürburgring and Hockenheimring racetracks, pay homage to powerhouse constructors such as Mercedes AMG Petronas Formula One Team and honour German drivers who have changed the sport including Ralf Schumacher and Nico Hülkenberg and former World Champions Michael Schumacher, Nico Rosberg and Sebastian Vettel. The show will also celebrate German women in Formula 1.
