Fans vent fury with one held back by security, with a number of players booked during heated scenes after Hull’s win at Stoke.
Semi Ajayi and Joe Gelhardt sealed a second-half turnaround victory for the Tigers, but at full time, celebrations turned ugly.
John Lundstram shushed the home fans behind the goal, before being confronted by Stoke’s Ashley Phillips, pushing ensued, with Gelhardt and Kyle Joseph getting involved.
That players from both sides piling in, with objects were thrown from the stands and one fan tried to invade the pitch.
Mohamed Belloumi and Ivon Pandur tried to calm the situation, with tensions eventually eased with handshakes between Gelhardt and Phillips.
There was stoppage time yellows for Lawal, Phillips, Crooks, Joseph, Lundstram, with Destan getting one earlier in the game.
Lundstram posted a picture of him shushing, and captioned it: “Loved the stick from the Stoke fans today. But they didn’t seem to like getting it back. Get urselves a nice early night fellas new day tomorrow”

The commentator is heard saying: “There’s the whistle, back on track, back to winning ways, Hull City find their stride again, to topple the Potters, and made a chaotic ending.
“Tempers flaring. The match has bubbled under for a fair while, particularly in the second half. Frustration for the home side.
“Stoke City missed the chance to cement second spot ahead of their promotion rivals taking to the field and to close the gap on runaway leaders Coventry City.
“They will be kicking themselves for not taking advantage of their first half dominance in a gritty grizzly game of two halves.
“Joe Gelhardt stepped forward to win the day, his seventh goal in nine games. Sorba Thomas with the eye catching opener. Semi Ajayi with the forceful leveller. It’s Hull City who are smiling amid the chaos come the final whistle. It ends amid ugly scenes.”
Mark Robins said, per Stoke Sentinel: “I spoke to the referee (Leigh Doughty) and he said to me that one of their players had incited the crowd by celebrating in front of them. They’ve reacted. Ash has then got involved, somehow, I don’t know, somehow, which is what happens in incendiary situations especially when you’ve just lost and the emotions are high.
“Then what happens is that they’re celebrating with supporters in the corner and sprint down the pitch to get involved for no reason. Then it starts to calm down, it’s nothing, and then one of their management team gets involved again, says something and it alights again.
“It is nothing to do with my players, nothing to do with anything other than what’s been said there. But, on the back of it, we will get fined which is an absolute joke.”
Robins on if he thought the leveller should have stood: “Good try.
“I think, really, the way that the game was refereed contributed to frustration. There’s no doubt. All of a sudden yellow cards came out when there had been no yellow cards all game. It contributed to the frustration.
“Other than that, I’ve nothing to say on it.”
Hull boss Sergej Jakirovic said: “I don’t know what happened because I spoke with the Stoke City gaffer. We tried to split the players, but for me this is part of football. I think it is normal you celebrate a victory but I understand the fans and Stoke City players are angry because they lost the game, especially after the first half.
On the half time team talk: “This is not for the public. It must stay in the dressing room. But it was a nice chat. I was not angry, but if we continued to play like that we could go home immediately.
“I just prayed we went in at half-time just 1-0 down because we didn’t control anything. They were much better than us, so we agreed we needed to be on the front foot and have more pressure. The equalising goal was a big boost for us. And then the game was 50-50.”
Here’s how Twitter users reacted after fans vent fury with players booked during heated scenes following Hull’s win at Stoke…
@bnajoe96: Sign Lunny permanently #hcafc
@stokieadam: Unfortunately this is what happens when these @EFL refs keep performing at the level they do. The guy had no control over that game whatsoever. The game was destined to boil over like this. And it will be the clubs that get charged
@BenjaminGrocott: The guy on radio stoke who said he should be fined, banned and the 3 points taken off them made my evening 😂 fucking crying over nowt. Let the guy wave his hands like a twat and go home
@CityGroundShelf: Proper EFL. Wouldn’t get this aggro at any of the tourist hotspot/ sanitised Prem venues we go to.
@_rebeccai: Protect Ash Phillips at all costs. Wrap him up in cotton wool and give him the TP coat. Go near him again and I’ll break your fingers x
@Smudger77: I see the Hull players would rather goad the opposition fans than celebrate with their own fans. Classy.
@bigbadwalks: Is there a funnier set of fans after a defeat than Stoke? The head loss is always top tier. #hcafc
@hovetiger: Stoke are the biggest bunch of self entitled twats going…Phillips, Thomas especially chucking toys out of the pram and could have been sent off. Don’t know why they’re pissed off at the ref.. he cost us a nailed on pen. Stoke Radio completely one-eyed at the end #hcafc #scfc
@SaviourLad1592: What did those nobhead fans think they were going to do?! 😂
@Rhigallimorexo: Kicked off THREE times and the ref did absolutely nothing!!
@con_scfc: A fight after the game always means the ref has been shit.Surely got to be questioned now
@melvinwpeters: I have to laugh at the group of fans attempting to do something.
@lukehall_7: stoke scruffs are rattled 😂 always preferred the vale #hcafc
