Netflix has officially released Matchroom: The Greatest Showmen, a six-part docuseries that takes viewers behind the curtain of one of the world’s most influential sports promotion companies. Debuting Wednesday, September 17, the series is produced by Box To Box, the award-winning team behind Formula 1: Drive to Survive and At Home with the Furys. For the first time, cameras were given unrestricted “access all areas” to Matchroom Sport’s operations, capturing the high-stakes negotiations, event production, and the Hearns family dynamics that drive the Essex-based powerhouse.

Among the leaders featured is Emily Frazer, CEO of Matchroom Multi-Sport and Director of Matchroom Sport, whose career trajectory illustrates the next generation shaping the company’s future. Frazer told Forbes the filming was both validating and surreal: “Honestly, it was overwhelming but exciting. Everything we’ve done before has been sport-focused, so at first I wasn’t sure why my story mattered. But the producers kept telling me it was incredible, and it made me realize what I’ve achieved in my career.”

The series spans Matchroom’s vast sporting empire of boxing, darts, snooker, pool, and more, while showing the personalities behind the events. Sports icons including Luke Littler, Katie Taylor, Anthony Joshua, Conor Benn, and Ronnie O’Sullivan appear throughout, offering fans unprecedented behind-the-scenes access to some of the most high-profile matchups in recent years, from Benn-Eubank Jr. to Taylor-Serrano II and Anthony Joshua vs. Daniel Dubois.

More Than Sport With Netflix’s Matchroom: The Greatest Showmen

For Frazer, the most exciting part was the spotlight on nineball pool, a sport she has tirelessly promoted. “In the U.S., Eddie Hearn is known for boxing. If people see that he’s also backing pool, it legitimizes the sport here. Hopefully it helps us gain more exposure,” she said, adding that her team’s relentless work to elevate what was once considered a “smaller” sport is finally being showcased on a global stage.

Barry Hearn, Matchroom’s founder and president, described the series as “warts and all.” He said: “For over four decades, Matchroom has proved itself to be one of the true, global British business triumphs. But we’re not normal. This series shows all of that, and more… You’ve got me, the old, grey-haired geezer that started the company, and then the young son comes in, who is dynamic, and all the other kids as well, Frank Smith, Matt Porter and Emily Frazer. Do not miss it.”

Eddie Hearn, who has overseen the company’s global expansion, positioned the series as a blend of drama and entertainment: “It’s Succession meets Drive to Survive. Away from the live action, you’re seeing all the backstage dramas in the dressing rooms, the press conferences, the arguments… It is pure, unrivalled entertainment, and for any true sports fan, it is unmissable.”

Warren Smith, Head of Sport and Factual at Box To Box, added: “With Matchroom this is more than the sport, this is the life of the best sports promoters in the business. In father and son Barry and Eddie Hearn we have two of the greatest deal makers around but also two of the most competitive men you can meet. Alongside their wider Matchroom family nothing was off limits and this series is something we are extremely proud of. The Matchroom series is funny, emotional and entertaining.”
