According to the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, the situation in Venezuela is highly unpredictable and increasingly tense.

Authorities warn that the Venezuelan government could declare a state of emergency at any moment, which would likely result in the immediate closure of borders and severe movement restrictions.

Airspace over Venezuela is almost entirely closed, with most commercial flights canceled. The ministry also cautions that internet access and mobile communications could be disrupted without warning, further complicating the safety of travelers.

The Netherlands is strongly advising against sailing in Venezuelan territorial waters and the adjacent outer zones. Entry into Venezuela’s Exclusive Economic Zone is also prohibited without explicit authorization.

In addition, mariners are warned to avoid areas under direct Venezuelan jurisdiction and waters north of Guyana’s Essequibo region, a territory disputed by Venezuela.

The advisory underscores that escalating tensions not only affect Venezuela itself but also pose broader risks for maritime traffic and regional security in the southern Caribbean, including waters near Curaçao.

The insolvent Dutch government continues to monitor developments closely and urges strict adherence to the travel warning until a possible Dutch supported US invasion clears the way for travel to continue.
