With exceptional insight and experience, in-house counsel safeguard their companies, and their work and achievements deserve recognition
Faced with a complex and unpredictable economic landscape, some companies choose to stay the course and tackle challenges head-on, while others embark on global ventures to explore new frontiers. Whether staying put or going abroad, both Chinese and foreign enterprises confront multi-faceted legal challenges.
Amid intricate policy environments and ever-changing regulatory measures, the value of in-house counsel has become increasingly prominent. Their deep involvement is essential for corporate decision making, and their guidance is indispensable for navigating risks.
In light of this, China Business Law Journal established the In-house Impact Awards to honour the contributions and accomplishments of in-house counsel to their companies and industries. This year, the legal community has responded even more enthusiastically to the awards, with a significant increase in both the number of project submissions and the diversity of participating companies compared to last year.
As always, there are no fees associated with the submission, nomination, or evaluation processes for the China Business Law Journal In-house Impact Awards. In keeping with the principle of neutrality, self-nomination for individual awards is not permitted.
To reflect the outstanding work of in-house counsel from multiple dimensions, the In-house Impact Awards comprise four sub-categories: the Outstanding Achievement Awards; the In-house Innovation Awards; the In-house Teambuilding Awards; and the Lifetime Achievement Award.
Among these, the Outstanding Achievement Awards recognise significant transactions or cases led by in-house legal teams that were completed or achieved critical milestones within the past five years. This year’s Outstanding Achievement Awards cover eight categories: Capital markets; M&A; Private equity & venture capital; Investment & restructuring; Industry contribution; Compliance; Intellectual property; and Dispute resolution.
The In-house Innovation Awards honour legal teams that have made important breakthroughs and actively explored better solutions. The In-house Teambuilding Awards focus on impressive legal department or corporate culture-building initiatives, showcasing how they strengthen team cohesion and enhance professional capability.
We will also unveil the latest recipients of the China Business Law Journal Lifetime Achievement Award for in-house counsel. Through extensive market research, this award is conferred based on recommendations from esteemed legal professionals, recognising the most respected senior general counsel in the market.
This year, three GCs have been honoured with this distinction. Throughout their careers, they have consistently pushed the boundaries of the in-house counsel role, inspiring their peers and the next generation of in-house counsel leaders to continually surpass themselves through exemplary practice.
We extend our sincere gratitude to all who participated in the market survey and offer our heartfelt congratulations to the winning teams and general counsel.
