Best-Dressed Woman at the 2025 US Open – Little Yellow Ball

Did you guys see the women’s semifinals yesterday? What a treat! Only a few weeks ago I was railing about all the choking in the women’s game, with three of these four semifinalists serving as my examples. Yesterday, to quote Patrick McEnroe, they stepped up and delivered, including Amanda Anisimova, bouncing back from that humiliating double bagel in the Wimbledon final. The only possible explanation for this dramatic turnaround? These ladies are reading LittleYellowBall! (Hey, guys!)

Seriously, I couldn’t be happier to eat my words.

Of course, another treat has been all the stellar fashion on display. I had a tough time winnowing the field to only three, and I expect I’ll get an earful about who got left off the podium. Bring it on, people. I can take it.

Nominee #1: Marta Kostyuk

Much has been made of the predominant color red at this year’s Open, appearing everywhere from dresses to fugly shoes to Coco Gauff’s undershorts. I keep waiting to hear what Pam Shriver makes of it all, but if she’s shared any more of her musings on the complex interplay of menstruation, fashion, and performance, I missed it.

Whatever the status of Kostyuk’s cycle, this little red number by Wilson is a stunner. I love the layered look with the zipper, the white piping at the waist and collar, and the unapologetically in-your-face RED!

Nominee #2: Anna Kalinskaya

Already blessed with good looks and a cutie-patootie puppy, is it fair that the Russian-born Kalinskaya also gets to wear this beautifully crafted Nike ensemble? I’m in love with this color (is it periwinkle?) and the way it pops against the gray. The geometric structuring of the back practically takes this outfit into the realm of high fashion.

Unfortunately, Getty Images doesn’t offer a shot of the back, so here it is from the Nike store:

Nominee #3: Taylor Townsend

On its own, this dress wouldn’t be my favorite of all the looks sported by the sponsor-less Townsend over the last couple of weeks. But sometimes clothing transcends mere aesthetics. In the now infamous dustup with an unhinged Jelena Ostapenko, Townsend conducted herself with strength, dignity, and passion (and showed that same fierceness and poise a day later in her stunning dismantling of fifth-seeded Mirra Andreeva). In its balance of elegance and fire, the dress perfectly captures both the moment and the woman who rose above it.
