Caleb Williams led the Chicago Bears to a thrilling 31–28 win over the Pittsburgh Steelers, throwing three touchdown passes and outdueling Mason Rudolph, who was starting in place of an injured Aaron Rodgers.
Chicago’s defense also played a key role, forcing two turnovers that directly led to 14 points.
The Steelers started strong, with Rudolph completing 10 straight passes, Kenneth Gainwell breaking a 55-yard run on fourth down, and Jaylen Warren punching in a short touchdown.
T.J. Watt’s strip sack of Williams, recovered by Nick Herbig in the end zone, gave Pittsburgh an early defensive score.
Williams regained control in the second half, hitting DJ Moore for a 25-yard touchdown to give Chicago the lead. Montez Sweat’s strip sack of Rudolph set up Kyle Monangai’s short touchdown run, extending the Bears’ advantage early in the fourth quarter.
Pittsburgh fought back late, with Rudolph connecting with Pat Freiermuth for a touchdown, but Chicago’s defense sealed the win. Jaquan Brisker broke up Rudolph’s fourth-down attempt in the final seconds, preserving the Bears’ 31–28 victory.
Chiefs taken to overtime
The Kansas City Chiefs are also not out of play-off contention just yet as they came from behind to beat the Indianapolis Colts 23–20 in overtime at Arrowhead Stadium.
The Colts scored first after Patrick Mahomes threw an early interception, taking a 7–0 lead. Kansas City struggled to get going, and a Travis Kelce touchdown was wiped out by a penalty.
The Chiefs added a field goal in the second quarter, but Indianapolis extended their lead to 14–3. Kansas City responded with two more field goals, narrowing the gap to 14–9 at halftime.
Indianapolis opened the second half strong, scoring a touchdown and a field goal to make it 20–9. Kansas City’s offense stalled on early third-quarter drives, forcing punts and keeping the Colts in control.
In the fourth quarter, the Chiefs finally scored a touchdown and converted a two-point play, cutting the deficit to 20–17.
A 47-yard pass from Mahomes to Rashee Rice set up a late field goal to tie the game 20–20 and send it to overtime.
The Colts punted on their first possession in overtime, giving Kansas City the ball in good field position. Mahomes drove the Chiefs into scoring range with another big pass to Rice.
Harrison Butker then drilled the game-winning field goal, giving the Chiefs a 23–20 overtime victory and completing their comeback.
