Yang Li
Zhong Lun Law Firm has hired Yang Li as a partner at its Beijing office to bolster the bankruptcy and restructuring practice.
Before rejoining Zhong Lun, Li was a partner at JunHe’s Beijing branch. He started his 18-year legal career at Zhong Lun, where he worked as an associate for three years. Li later joined King & Wood Mallesons, where he was promoted to partner.
Li specialises in bankruptcy liquidation and restructuring, and he also advises clients on investment and M&A, corporate and commercial criminal matters.
He has extensive experience in advising on restructuring involving the listing of companies, litigation and cross-border matters. Li has also worked on substantive consolidation bankruptcy cases, as well as mitigating risks for financial institutions and counselling clients on out-of-court debt restructuring.
Li was famously involved in Zhongnan Heavy Industries’ bankruptcy restructuring case, the first listed company in Jiangsu province to adopt the pre-reorganisation system before restructuring.
He was also the bankruptcy administrator of a cross-border restructuring case involving 20 companies, including Dongying Fangyuan Nonferrous Metals. The case involved creditors from 16 countries with diverse and substantial claims. Li and his team were able to assist clients with debt-to-equity swaps within a short period.
