While there might have been plenty of speculation during October’s international break that Ruben Amorim could be removed from his position in the Old Trafford dugout, Manchester United have certainly claimed a recent boost.
Last seen over the weekend securing an action-packed 4-2 victory at home against Brighton, the former Sporting Lisbon boss has seen his squad win each of their previous three consecutive Premier League appearances.
Skyrocketing their way into the Champions League spots, it appears that the mood around Old Trafford is at the highest it has been since Amorim’s arrival 11 months ago.
However, despite spending over £200million on the trio of Bryan Mbeumo, Matheus Cunha and Benjamin Sesko during the summer, it has been reported that United are already putting together their plans ahead of the January transfer window.
With it once again speculated that academy graduate Kobbie Mainoo is keen on securing a loan switch away from the red half of Manchester, United are reportedly keen on adding midfield reinforcements.
With the Old Trafford hierarchy set to once again back Amorim when the January window opens up, it has been suggested that United are keeping tabs on a pair of English starlets.
Adam Wharton – Crystal Palace
While Adam Wharton might have only arrived at Crystal Palace last year for a reported fee in the region of £22million, the England international has taken to Premier League football in a sensational fashion.
Enjoying what has been a real rise to superstardom, the former Blackburn starlet finds his stock at a red-hot high and is widely regarded as one of the Three Lions’ hottest midfield prospects.
Playing a leading role in the heart of Oliver Glasner’s midfield and helping Palace to an iconic maiden FA Cup crown back in May, Wharton has been heavily linked with a string of Premier League giants.
Alongside continued links over a potential move across London to Chelsea, United have remained a keen admirer of Palace’s budding talisman continuing on from the summer and Amorim has reportedly sanctioned a potential swoop for the 21-year-old.
With The Mirror reporting earlier in the month that the Old Trafford hierarchy could be willing to approach Palace with a £60million offer in January, a move to Manchester could help Wharton earn a spot in Thomas Tuchel’s World Cup squad for next summer.
However, with four years remaining on his current deal at Selhurst Park, Palace also demonstrated during the Marc Guehi saga that they will not be bullied into any kind of deal that does not match their demands.

Jobe Bellingham – Borussia Dortmund
Publicly rejecting some heavyweight Premier League interest over the summer, plenty of eyebrows were raised following Jobe Bellingham’s decision to follow in the footsteps of his brother and complete a blockbuster move to Germany.
Crowned as the Championship’s Young Player of the Season for his performances during Sunderland’s promotion-winning campaign, a potential move to Chelsea was heavily speculated.
However, while older brother Jude might have shattered a string of records during his sensational three-year stint with Borussia Dortmund, the 20-year-old has rather drastically failed to find his feet in rural Germany.
Only featuring for the final six minutes during BVB’s 1-0 victory at home against Koln last weekend, the England U21 international has failed to find any kind of fluidity under Niko Kovac’s guidance.
Not making a single Bundesliga start since the end of August, it has also been reported that Bellingham’s family are growing frustrated with his development outside of England.
With continued speculation drawing on from the summer that Mainoo is keen on securing a January loan switch away from Old Trafford, The Daily Express reported over the weekend that Bellingham has been discussed internally by Amorim and his team.
