Angry Leicester fans aim boos and chants at players and manager after 2-0 defeat to Blackburn

Angry Leicester fans aim boos and chants at players and manager Marti Cifuentes after the 2-0 defeat to Blackburn on Saturday afternoon.

Blackburn came away with a second consecutive win with a 2-0 victory, with the result meaning a third straight defeat for Leicester.

Despite being near the bottom, Blackburn dominated a struggling Leicester side, whose fans booed long after the final whistle.

A Leicester deflection gifted Andri Gudjohnsen the opportunity to net an opener on the 20th minute.

Leicester could have took the lead themselves in the first half after Jannik Vestergaard powered a header towards goal but Stephy Mavididi was over cautious, connecting to ensure it found the net, only to see it ruled out for offside instead.

Then in the 63rd minute, Alebiosu did brilliantly on the right to get away from his markers, went to the byline and pulled it back for Gudjohnsen to find the roof of the net from close range.

James was taken off by Cifuentes, with the home crowd booing and then came chants of ‘You don’t know what you’re doing’.

Matt Piper (Former Foxes winger on BBC Radio Leicester): “The big difference between these two sides is not where they are in the table, it’s the fight when they put on the shirt.

“I don’t know what goes through these players’ heads. I don’t know if they’re too entitled or if they expect to roll over Blackburn.

“That was nowhere near the level of performance I expect from this team.”

Leicester’s Marti Cifuentes:

“It was disappointing and I understand the fans are frustrated. I wanted us to get closer to the supporters after the game, it’s about staying together.

“The fans have the right to be angry when we lose. But I can tell them that even the most committed Leicester fan in the world is not as angry as I am at the moment.

“We need to give them something back and come out of this difficult time together. That’s the only to go.

“But we need to be better, whatever direction the crowd is. I knew the situation when I arrived here but I am 100 per cent committed to changing things.

“Everybody needs to be accountable for the way they respond to this. We need to be better. I’m here to help the players, perhaps one bad action can trigger a different feeling. It’s not easy for some but we need much more.

“The only way I know is by working harder. We have an opportunity now on Tuesday against Middlesbrough and we need to react strongly. But I’ve experienced this before, sometimes with clubs that have been in trouble.”

🦊 #LCFC | Marti Cifuentes has told BBC Sport Leicester that the current situation his side find themselves in “is not good enough.”

They’ve not won in the league since the start of October, and are languishing in mid-table.

Blackburn’s Valerien Ismael:

“It’s exactly what we expected from Andri. He was in the right position every time. I think he had two big chances as well before that, early in the season. He stayed in the right positions all the time but the first touch was not good.

“But now he found the rhythm to be in the right position and to have the final touch, which is very pleasing for us and for all the work he puts in every time.

“When you’re in a transition, some players adapt very quickly, some players need more time. Andri was one of them, he just needed more time.

“I said to the boys we have to go for the second goal because we cannot go through all the game like this. We needed to be braver and to be more aggressive on our press. We created so many chances in the second half.

“I was really pleased with the reaction, the way we wanted to play. And we got the clean sheet, players put their bodies on the line.”

Here’s how Twitter users reacted as angry Leicester fans aim boos and chants at players and manager Marti Cifuentes after a 2-0 defeat to Blackburn…

@ShaunS91: £550 season ticket, £25 in petrol and parking, £25 on food/drinks each game. Watching us get dry bummed by Blackburn at home, seeing overpaid cunts not give a flying fuck about this club. Priceless. This once great club, is firmly on its arse. Sad. #lcfc

@kriswarden: It’s a really sorry state your football club is in when you know the games done after you concede the first goal. Nothing will change at #LCFC until KP sell up and get out. You can get all the managers in you want, the rot is at the very top of this club

@delpollardLCFC: That was embarrassing. The worst I’ve seen us play for a long time. No passion or urgency from the players. The system is boring. Change is needed at the club, if we get a points deduction, we’re in trouble. #LCFC

@JsLcfc17: Top is destroying everything his father built. Sad

@johnclem79: Embarrassing! The club is heading in one direction. New leadership and more importantly ownership is needed Top is running the club into the ground! Sell up now! #kingpowerout #Topout #rudkinout

@hursty16:
Cooper was a bad manager
Ruud was a bad manager
Marti is a bad manager
Or were they all working with the same players? Makes you wonder sometimes??
#lcfc

@richjacques10: Just when you thought that performances couldn’t get any worse. Absolutely zero positives to take away from that performance. Every player looked completely uninterested and should be embarrassed 💩

@david8to: Managers got to go. Starting soumarre and then keeping him on for that long says to me marti is not upto the job. Theres no style of play. No defensive stability and 0 attacking. The passing and shooting is beyond woeful. Buck stops with the manager.

@Omodon: Very very poor today, no leaders on the pitch, a few of that starting X1 are well below the standard required, 3 strikers who have 1 goal between them this season is the stand out problem, the rot has set in an a 2nd relegation on the bounce is looming…

@Ochai_Muse: BEFORE SACKING THE MANAGER CHANGE THE LEADERSHIP CHANGE THE BOARD AND CHANGE THE PLAYERS. THE BOARD IS THE ISSUE THE PLAYERS HAVE NO FIGHT THE PROBLEM IS UP THERE. King power, rudkin ur time is up. #lcfc

Entered the stadium at 12:20 … Had a few beers and a pie … Left after 65 minutes … Cannot be arsed anymore with this shit show of a football club 👍#lcfc 💙🦊 pic.twitter.com/AZuJJnCHYC

ENOUGH IS ENOUGH!

Since 2023, this club has been on a downward trajectory, and it’s only going to get worse.
Absolute rot from top to bottom: owners, board, management, staff, players all absolute dross.#LCFC pic.twitter.com/aRpgNmShqk
