The Birth Keepers
A shocking Guardian investigation by Sirin Kale and Lucy Osborne into the Free Birth Society (FBS), a movement that made millions of dollars from encouraging pregnant women to have unaided home births – even as the deaths of babies mounted. Its empathetic interviews with ex-members make for a sensitive, hugely listenable show, treading a delicate line between hard-hitting and extending empathy to the women who fell under FBS’s spell. Life Lessons from History
Can a 14th-century nun who swallowed a demon while eating a salad inspire you to embrace a bit of magic in your life? Was Elizabeth II the poster girl for procrastination positivity? Dr David Musgrove’s fun history series invites experts to make a case for unlikely lessons from the past. Hollie Richardson

“It’s a Prozac show!” This delightful pod from Connecticut Public is a billet-doux to Amy Sherman-Palladino’s oh-so-wholesome comedy drama. As well as considering the Bechdel-passing merits of the mother-daughter leads, host Chloe Wynne interviews those who knew the series best – including Keiko Agena, who played Rory Gilmore’s best friend, Lane Kim. Watching You
This creepy – if rather workaday – true-crime series from the Sony Binge Cases stable centres on the murder of Dominique “Nique” Leili in Georgia in 2011. Her husband, Matt, rigged the couple’s home with surveillance cameras in what, says host Jonathan Hirsch, was “a story of an obsession with the darkest outcome possible”. HJD

David Greene Is Obsessed
From Jian Yang’s collection of 13,000 Barbies to David Arquette’s love of kids’ book character Bozo the Clown, this quirky show talks to people with unique obsessions. It takes a different interviewee each week and is more of a sympathetic deep dive into their mindset than you might imagine. Charmingly geeky and entirely snark-free. AD
