This Car Rental Company Is the Best in the U.S., According to Travel Advisors

Booking a rental car can be one of the most crucial parts of planning a trip. But with seemingly endless options, choosing the right one can feel tricky. Luckily, there are travel advisors to help.

Enterprise Rent-A-Car was named the best domestic car rental company in this year’s Travvy Awards, which are produced by AGENTatHOME and TravelPulse and voted on by thousands of their readers. The awards ceremony took place on Nov. 6 in Fort Lauderdale, Florida.

Enterprise was followed by Hertz and then Avis Budget Group.

“Looking around at the industry leaders gathered here, it’s clear that travel has entered a new golden age defined by boldness and relentless quality,” Eric Bowman, the editor-in-chief of TravelPulse, said in a statement. “The 11th Annual Travvy Awards is a sacred moment for us—a chance to truly spotlight the companies, destinations, and people who aren’t just meeting demand, but elevating the entire experience.”

Bowman added: “Their commitment to excellence, innovation, and service is the engine driving our passion, and these trophies represent the highest honor that our readers—the travel advisors—can bestow.”

When it came to international travel, Hertz took home the gold, while Enterprise finished second. German-based car rental company Sixt came in third for the international market.

To determine the year’s winners, the editorial teams at TravelPulse and AGENTatHOME selected a handful of nominees, which were then voted on by travel advisors. In past years, travel advisors have cast votes in more than 140 different travel-related categories, including travel destinations, hotels and resorts, cruise lines, airlines, tour operators, and, of course, car rental companies.

Next year, the 12th annual Travvy Awards will take place on Nov. 6, 2026, in Fort Lauderdale.

National Car Rental, which was named by Travel + Leisure readers as their favorite car rental company for 2025, didn’t make the Travvy Awards list.

When renting a car, there are a few things travelers can do to ensure they get the best price. Travelers should check membership clubs like Costco or AAA for deals, or search third-party websites like Priceline. Renters can also tap their favorite airline loyalty programs in order to earn more airline miles when they book. And if they’re OK with driving stick shift, opting for a manual transmission vehicle could eke out a better price.

Where you rent could also make a difference: cars rented at the airport tend to be pricier due to additional taxes and fees.
