Plenty of drama and post-game anger as Lincoln condemn Doncaster to 9 league games without win

There was plenty of drama and post-game anger as Lincoln City condemn Doncaster Rovers to 9 league games without a win.

The Imps went level on points with League One leaders Stockport with a 2-1 home win over Doncaster, Frankie Okoronkwo put the hosts ahead with a header on 31 minutes. Brandon Hanlan got Donny their equaliser on 70 minutes, then a Robbie Gotts own goal secured victory for Lincoln.

At the end of the game, Thimothée Lo-Tutala faced the criticism from those in the away end, with it claimed fans told him to be positive, some abused him. Yellows were also showed to Grant McCann and Ian Lawlor.

Was Lawlor given a yellow as well at the end after the game finished ? It was unclear who it was given too. #DRFC

Just seen it on Rovers Player – it was Lawlor #DRFC who was cautioned at the end of the game. pic.twitter.com/wQhHpvWIsC

Doncaster boss Grant McCann said: “It’s unacceptable to concede a minute or two after scoring ourselves. We just don’t get organised in the box for the ling throw and it’s frustrating to lose a goal like that.

“But it’s so unlucky when you watch it back. We’ve got three against two around the box and it drops to Ben House. He shoots, Timmy [Lo-Tutala] makes a great save and it ricochets off Robbie Gotts and goes into the net.

“We pushed. We had some really good opportunities. We snatched too many and we’re talking about another defeat which is really disappointing.

“We’ve just got to stay positive and I know that’s difficult when you haven’t won for eight or nine games in the league.

“But we can certainly see the improvement and we want to win football matches. That’s what we’ve done a lot since we’ve been here and it hurts when you don’t win.

“Little moments in games are hurting us at the minute. I feel we should have a penalty on Brandon Hanlan and for some bizarre reason Brandon gets booked and then I get booked.

“It’s just frustrating but it’ll turn at some point. We’re just not getting the rub of the green in certain moments.

“I’m disappointed for our fans. We’ve brought over 1,500 down here and sent them home with nothing.

“But hopefully they could see the team was trying their best to get something out of the game.”

Lincoln’s Michael Skubala said: “The most important thing is coming back to LNER Stadium and getting a home win again.

“We’ve had a long run of away games – the atmosphere was great and in the first half in particular I thought we were electric. Now we can go away and see if we can pick some more points up on the road to build on this.

“Frankie’s performance was top drawer building on his performance against Barnsley in midweek.

“He also had to help out Adam Reach in stopping Luke Molyneux on the left. His goal was a well taken move and a great move down the right.

“I also thought Conor McGrandles and Tom Bayliss’ partnership in midfield was excellent, in fact there are some top performances all around the pitch which really helped us dig in and get the three points.”

This is how fans reacted to a game which had plenty of drama and post-game anger as Lincoln condemn Doncaster to 9 league games without a win…

@Stuart_James10: 9 games without a win is disgraceful. I’m starting to be McCann out. The panic subs when we go behind, playing Sharp when Hanlan finally shows a bit of promise and the news that he’s working his bollocks off shows he’s stuck in his ways, doing the same things time and time again

@DannyGreenRover: The McCann out brigade is in full force tonight for me personally he’s still got enough credit in the bank for now I’m not debating whether we should be asking questions because we should but maybe we are all guilty of laying loyalties to the squad from league two #DRFC

@MichaelHar83930: McCann isn’t under pressure at all, it’s far to early, rovers haven’t got the money to turn it around and no manager who we could get would do a better job then McCann at this stage

@the_real_owen: Robbie Gotts, once an Imps, always an Imp 🔴⚪🔴⚪ Nice to see a full away end for a change. Like to see you stay in the league

@RaddersDRFC: People laughing at Doncaster Rovers are forgetting the annual January signings masterclass from Grant McCann… Also, start Erling Hanlan next week 😂 #drfc

@Will_BCAFC_: Doncaster lose again and are winless in 9 but it’s ok because at least they’ve beaten us and Gibson scores always against us #bcafc #drfc

@DanWernham93: Feels like it’s the same problems every week on repeat, can’t score and can’t defend. How long until some serious questions need to be asked. #DRFC

@MattDRFCshirts: Do I trust McCann? Obviously. Do I think questions need to be asked of him? Yes. If you were around for the last two seasons, you know the script. #DRFC

@RedMoshMan_RTID: I think it’s time people realised that although GMs ambition is as high as ever we simply don’t have the squad for it. This season was always about consolidation and atm for us to do that we have to get better in both boxes. A crucial January window is fast approaching. #drfc

@Ryandunphy95: Some wild opinions flying around. The manager can’t stick the ball in the net for them! #drfc

@CameronMooresey: Anyone calling for McCanns head is in coocoo land. Dominating every game, however if you can’t score and can’t win headers when they’ve got an attack. That’s down to the players on the pitch not McCann #drfc

@AndyFromDonny: #drfc doing what we do again. We’re not shite that’s for sure. We have the right manager, some really good players and we’re just not quite there at the moment. But we will be, we’ve seen it many times before and we will again. It’ll turn soon.
