Justin Jefferson Eyes ‘F–k It’ Mentality, Return to ‘Savage Mode’ for Vikings

Minnesota Vikings star Justin Jefferson is looking to adjust his mindset heading into an NFC North matchup with the Chicago Bears on Sunday.

Jefferson said Thursday that he wanted to return to his “savage mode” that he reached in 2022 and have a “f–k it mentality,” according to ESPN’s Kevin Seifert.

“Just different things going on in my life and just wanting to get back to that kid phase of loving it,” he explained, per Seifert. “I still love football, but overly loving football and overly loving just being out there on Sundays and making the big plays and just being a part of this great organization. So, just wanting to get back mentally into that mode.”

Jefferson put together a career year in 2022, leading the NFL in targets (184) and receptions (128) as well as receiving yards (1,809). He also found the end zone nine total times.

Jefferson was rewarded with Offensive Player of the Year recognition for his efforts and finished No. 5 in AP MVP voting.

While he’s remained one of the top players at his position when healthy throughout the three years since, he hasn’t looked as dominant to open his 2025 campaign.

Jefferson has hauled in 51 receptions for 686 yards this season, averaging a career-low 76.2 yards per game. He’s only found the end zone twice in his nine appearances after racking up 41 touchdowns across the first five years of his career.

The four-time Pro Bowler could find some success against a Bears secondary that has struggled this year, owning the NFL’s seventh-worst pass defense by allowing 240.3 yards per game through the air.

Kickoff between Minnesota and Chicago on Sunday is at 1 p.m. ET.
