Inter are looking to the future for their defence, as Francesco Acerbi and Stefan de Vrij come to the end of their contracts, targeting Club Brugge talent Joel Ordonez.

The Nerazzurri are currently joint top of the Serie A table along with Roma, and have a 100 per cent record in the Champions League.

Their defensive record has always been a strength in recent years, but Cristian Chivu is overseeing a generational shift, with Acerbi and De Vrij expected to leave at the end of the season when their contracts expire.

Another exit is likely in January, as Tomas Palacios has not received even a minute of playing time so far this season and is heading out on loan.

According to La Gazzetta dello Sport, the primary target to boost the Inter back line is Ordonez, a 21-year-old Ecuador international who can also play at right-back.

He has been with Club Brugge since 2022 and his value on the transfer market has sky-rocketed, especially considering the Belgian side know how to get the best price for their players.

Ordonez only recently extended his contract with them until June 2029.
