Rated PG-13, Regretting You opened in theaters nationwide on Friday. The official synopsis for the film reads, “Based on the bestselling book, Regretting You introduces audiences to Morgan Grant (Williams) and her daughter Clara (Grace) as they explore what’s left behind after a devastating accident reveals a shocking betrayal and forces them to confront family secrets, redefine love, and rediscover each other. Regretting You is a story of growth, resilience, and self-discovery in the aftermath of tragedy.”
Directed by The Fault in Our Stars filmmaker Josh Boone, Regretting You also stars Scott Eastwood, Sam Morelos, Willa Fitzgerald and Clancy Brown. Regretting You is based on the book of the same name by Colleen Hoover, who also wrote the novel-turned-movie It Ends with Us.
Regretting You is expected to be released on digital streaming via premium video on demand on Tuesday, Nov. 25, according to When to Stream. While When to Stream is typically accurate with its PVOD dates, the release date has not been announced or confirmed by Regretting You studio Paramount Pictures and it is subject to change.
When Regretting You arrives on PVOD, it will be available on such digital platforms as Apple TV, Fandango at Home, Prime Video and YouTube. Prime Video currently has the film up for pre-order for purchase for $19.99. Since PVOD rentals are typically $5 less than purchase prices, Regretting You should be available to rent for a 48-hour period for $.14.99.
How Did Audiences And Critics Receive ‘Regretting You’?
Regretting You to date has earned $38.5 million domestically and $32.4 million internationally for a worldwide box office tally of $70.9 million.
The film had a production budget of $30 million, not including prints and advertising costs, Variety reported.
Regretting You earned a 27% “rotten” score from Rotten Tomatoes critics based on 81 reviews. The RT Critics Consensus reads, “Regrettable all around.”
Audiences responded much better, however, as Regretting You earned an 85% “fresh” Popcornmeter score on RT based on 1,000-plus verified user ratings.
The RT audience summary for the film reads, “As toasty as a well-worn blanket, Regretting You is a cute antidote to doom and gloom that wraps viewers in a candy-filled story, rewarding them with laughter and tears.”
Regretting You is expected to debut on PVOD on Nov. 25.
