West Ham fans hold ‘funeral procession’ in protest against owners before Burnley game

West Ham fans hold a ‘funeral procession’ in protest against their owners before the Burnley game on Saturday afternoon.

Hammers United organised the march, with it thought that over 10,000 supporters joined to demand the removal of chairman David Sullivan and vice-chair Karren Brady, who have controlled the club since 2010 (despite selling a 27% stake to Daniel Kretinsky in 2021).

Group chair Paul Colbourne told the crowd outside the London Stadium that the demonstration marked “the beginning of the end” for the pair, accusing them of destroying the club’s heart and soul.

Supporters are frustrated over the lack of progress since the 2023 Conference League win—the club’s first major trophy in 43 years, and ongoing issues with the London Stadium, which replaced Upton Park in 2016.

Originally an Olympics athletics venue, Brady had promised in 2013 it would become a “world-class” football ground.

The club have faced dire starts to recent seasons, with the team currently 18th in the Premier League with 7 points after 10 games.

A Change.org petition titled “It’s Time to Take Our Club Back” calls Sullivan and Brady “parasites” who betrayed fans with false promises and a “soulless” stadium, urging them to sell up under #SullivanOut #BradyOut #SaveWestHam. It has so far got over 17,000 signatures. Add yours to it HERE.

CHANGE.ORG PETITION READS:

It’s Time to Take Our Club Back – West Ham United Belongs to Us

West Ham United was once a club built on pride, tradition, and working class spirit. Today, it’s a hollow shell its heart and soul ripped out by owners who made promises they never intended to keep.

David Sullivan has betrayed the fans, lied about a “world class future,” and shackled us to a soulless, rented stadium where history and atmosphere have been traded for profit. Karen Brady, who sold the dream, has treated the fans with contempt and spin, not respect.

Enough is enough.

We are not customers.

We are not commodities.

We are West Ham.

It’s time to stand together! West Ham fans, football fans, anyone who believes clubs should be owned by people who care, not parasites who feed off loyalty. Sullivan must sell his shares and leave. Brady must be removed. The ownership that has poisoned West Ham United must be forced out, before the club we love becomes unrecognisable forever.

This is more than football. This is about principle, identity, and saving a club that represents generations of history.

Sign this petition. Share it everywhere. Make your voice heard.

Together, we can bring the heart back to West Ham. Together, we can force real change.

After 15 years under David Sullivan and current owners, fans reject the “just enough to survive” model—prioritising Premier League safety and mid-table finishes over genuine ambition, saying it’s not about demanding top-6 guarantees but seeing passion, drive, and investment.

Fans argues that David Moyes was hired cheaply to avoid relegation, not to chase Europe; the Conference League win and European runs were unintended bonuses, not part of a deliberate vision.

They add that ownership treats supporters as “customers,” creating a toxic divide, feeling no shared ambition or emotional investment from the board.

The realistic demand? A full sale is ideal but unlikely, proposing a compromise: Sullivan steps down as chairman, retains shares, and appoints professional operators (like Man City or Newcastle) to run the club ambitiously.

Here’s the Twitter reaction as West Ham fans hold ‘funeral procession’ in protest against owners before the Burnley game…

@mikecawston: En route to protest. If you can join, please do. At the very least we need an experienced, top class football executive in charge rather than the part time, fan baiting, overpaid Baroness who has presided over the worst stadium migration in football history. #NoMoreBS #whufc

@noble_rightfoot: So wish I could be there, but Bubbles knows why I can’t. But I’m with you all in spirit. My old gameday mates are going though. I do 100% support the protest, every single protest to get them out. I might struggle to get to games, but I want our club back!! COYI

@BabblingIrons: This is brilliant to see fans standing united against the continual mismanagement of the club & walking on the stand in protest of Brady & Sullivan. No doubt they’ll be vociferous in the ground too, pushing the team onto another much needed victory ⚒️ #NoMoreBS

@damagedhearts: Great to see so many protesting before the match ⚒️ #NoMoreBS

@dthomson123: These protests are growing every week, the message is very clear, 15 years of cancer hopefully starting to come to an end.

@kodyjscott: Well done lads keep it up ⚒️⚒️

@WestHamDan90: The message is clear! We have spoken! LEAVE THIS CLUB!
