UAE’s Habib Al Mulla opens consultancy services in New Delhi

Alia Al Mulla

UAE-based law firm Habib Al Mulla and Partners has officially inaugurated its India-focused consultancy services in New Delhi, around six months after announcing plans in May this year, and adding to its global presence alongside Turkey, Russia, Iraq and Egypt.

Partner Alia Al Mulla credited the recent Comprehensive Economic Partnership Agreement and the 2024 bilateral investment treaty as the reasons behind the decision. “We want to facilitate the relationship between our clients who have investments and businesses in India and any of the Indian clients who have business or trade in the UAE while working closely with Indian law firms,” she said.

At the same time, Al Mulla emphasised that the firm’s Indian office was not a law firm and would only provide management consultancy services for UAE and international law to its clients.

On what lies ahead for the New Delhi office, Al Mulla said, “We have very good prospects because we already have transactions we have worked on and we know that this market is only going to get bigger. India is the second-largest investor in the UAE, so the work is already there. We are here at a good time to capture that.”

Siddhant Sharma is the head of business development for the firm’s India consultancy office and shall act as the bridge between the teams in New Delhi and Dubai.

Habib Al Mulla and Partners has previously worked on cross-border and commercial transactions, international trade, supply chain, arbitration, mergers and acquisitions, and joint venture matters involving Indian parties and clients active in the Middle East.
